Summary: this is outdated now. when i got it i liked it however the interface wasn't that great and the hdmi board went out on me. a company was going to charge me 700 something dollars just for the keyboard plus the charges to fix it. i got it reduced by complaint to Onkyo. it is still going strng though and I've had this for 4 to 6 years now i think.
Summary: Please be aware that this unit, contrary to the copy description, does not support the FLAC codec. After reviewing the owner's manual I contacted Onkyo customer support and confirmed that, not only does the receiver not support the codec, Onkyo has no plans to update the firmware to support FLAC in the future.
Summary: I have had this AV Receiver for about three weeks now. Why 4 Star ? The receiver worked great for the first week and then started turning off. I followed the instructions in the manuel regarding the amp protection circuit shut off. It work great for a few more days and then started shutting down again. I contacted Onkyo support and a tech walked me through the speaker set up procedure. So far its been a little over a week and its been working great.
Summary: * IN CAPITAL LETTER MY REVISIONS AFTER 3 MONTHS OF TUNNING. Bought it to replace the great and classic Onkyo TX-DS989 after 8 years of good services. After these 8 years I became a semi audiophile appreciating hi def audio sources such as DVD Audio,SACD and audiophile CDs. I wanted another DS989 with all the new modern features brought by HDMI such as 1080p, DTS-HD, Master audio etc. I also wanted something that could make my hi def audio sources sound better.
Summary: This product can be had for as low as the low 1,300s. I paid 1464 in early January. The reason for the identical prices of 2,199 is that Onkyo must be enforcing its resale price maintenance requirements on its dealers. You used to be able to do a one click to check prices or add to cart to see the price, but even that does not work anymore (here or on the dealer sites). Many dealer web sites say that you "may" want to call about their latest pricing.
Summary: First unit arrived, tests demonstrated problem with Zone 2 causing amp to shut down after less than 1 minute operation. Contacted J&R and their customer service department arranged a return and a replacement unit to be shipped, all with one easy, friendly phone call. Replacement unit installed without any problem.
