Summary: This receiver has all the features and functions that will suffice most HT needs. I am hooking it up to my KEF speaker system and the sound is just awesome. The unit is heavy and gets very warm, so make sure you have enough ventilation.
Summary: With the death of my old CRT (24 year old Mitsubishi oak cabineted monster) I decided to go the High Def/LCD route for a new TV downstairs. After much research and deliberation I wound up going with a 52" Samsung Series 6. My Onkyo 898, while still servicable, was getting a bit long in the tooth, I also wanted to clear up the rat's nest in back of the AV Rack. With this in mind I began looking at new model AV receivers.
Summary: First unit was defective. Could not get HDMI to synch to projector consistantly. Very frustrating. Called JR and they sent another unit (at my expense until I return the defective one) and it works as advertised. Easy set up. Four HDMI inputs and two out. Upconverting of all inputs to 1080p HDMI is nice. No more HDMI switcher. Lots of power. Replaced a Pioneer Elite VSX47TX which was truely a phenominal unit which failed after lighting strike.
Summary: This is the best receiver I've owned. It has great power and real clean sound. The only thing I don't like is that when you stream music through a media server it won't work through a Windows Vista computer. You must have XP or earlier. Also there is no internal fan so this receiver will get pretty hot. I bought a small fan that I put on top of it and it works great. You can not put this in a closed cabinet while on. It will get so hot it will probably start a fire.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Clean Sound, Durable, Easy To Set Up, Good Power
Cons: Needs a internal fan, Not Compatible with Vista
Conclusion: Un excelente receiver de altisima gama a precio bastante accesible.
