Summary: Very nice looking receiver and very capable electronics. A bit complicated to figure out at first. Have a TV ready when you plug it in for first time. Channels skip when adjusting bass or treble. Weird! Volume knob feels cheap.
Excerpt: This system is OK. It could benefit from a second component video input instead of the composite video. It has an over abundance of HDMI inputs. Some key inputs are unassignable. I love the overall design of Onkyo AV receivers, but sometimes the input mix is not optimal.
Summary: Very Happy with the Receiver I'm getting great sound from Pandora via the Net which is a plus. And the audio and video is outstanding .
Pros: Great A/V Receiver Does a very good job with the sound and video. Connected with my network w/out a problem and has successfully reconnected whenever I have turned it back on. Installation was easy when you are using only HDMI cables. I did connect up my old CD player using analog cables w/ out a...
Cons: Only thing I was not able to hook up to it was a very old cassette player which I do not use any more so not really a con.
Excerpt: I was looking at the integra and chose this instead. Same received from what I can tell and for $ less. Setup was easy and sounds great. Once again, great service from B&H. They keep me coming back.
Summary: I have always owned Onkyo receivers and have had good luck, but this receiver was release with bugs in my opinion. Definitely not ready for prime-time. Another think I didn't like was how out-of-date the menu system was.
Pros: Has everything you can ask for (4k, HDMI 2.0, Pre-outs, Dolby Atmos (with upcoming firmware release), wireless, Bluetooth, tons of inputs).
Cons: First thing, the ethernet port stopped could get an IP from my router. Worst yet, every time I connected to the router it crashed my router. I even tried a different router--same results. Second issue is that screen will sometimes flicker in and out when selecting from one input to another. You h...
Excerpt: Great sounding A/V receiver with plenty of inputs and is ready for new 4K TV's, has the ability to stream home content, and has execellent power. The unit itself is rather large and heavy so make plans to have enough space for the unit in your entertainment center to hold it it needs to have room...
Pros: 4 Or 6 Ohms Impedence, Great sound, Lots of features, Multiple Input Sources
Excerpt: I just bought TX-NR838 to substitute my old model TX-NR808 and IT'S REALLY HOT!!! Amazing upgrades... Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4K, AccuEq Room Calibration and more... If you are looking for a Good Experience in Home Theatre, just buy it!!!
Excerpt: I really like the Onkyo Receivers, but they seem to have a limited life. My first one died after a little over a year (7.1 Channel receiver). The second one lasted about as long. I need to note, each was a different model. Currently the second one (TX-NR717) is in for repairs.
Pros: Many features, Network Control, On Screen Display, Sounds Great
Summary: If you want a product that is easy to install then this is great. If however you want a product that is easy to install but you can finetune to your exact requirements then this is perfect! I have had a few Onkyo units over the years, and have always been more than happy with them.
