Summary: So my 818 no longer outputs audio on any input except when in stand by mode. The network port and usb ports are also not working. Also this unit is supposed to support 8ohms yet you are forced to select either 4 or 6... I contacted support for the issue and it took 2 days to get a call back because they are experiencing very high call volumes. When they finally called me back, the guy said I would have to take it to a service center.
Summary: Sound quality is great. Mostly attribute to decent speakers and Audyssey, but I do think the amplifier section is good. In addition to the Gapless Audio issue, Onkyo will not take ownership of a firmware issue that ruined the pass through capability. After a firmware update, I can no longer pass through TV sound when the unit is in standby mode. I went through tech support did all the troubleshooting, changed cables, etc.
Excerpt: I could not put up with the way the receiver plays music. I have a claim to the high frequencies, at first glance it seems that there are too Audyssey increases. But many times did the calibration, tried to manually set, the result still does not suit me. Thank Vanns, take the receiver back and seller advised Marantz SR6007. High frequencies are dissolved in the air, and now the music sounds great.

Summary: did the latest firmware, even the factory reset - like was suggested at the onkyo usa forums and nothing - i tried the tech support and like others said here - Onkyo tech support is a joke, absolutely NO help. I am really upset - what bad experience ... ----- 01/01/2013 - I know that soon or later (looking at the other reviews) someone will ask to contact askOnkyo@us.onkyo.com and describe what is wrong.
Summary: I purchased this Onkyo TX-NR818 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver (Black) receiver to replace a 5 year old Harmon Kardon that sometimes had HDMI switching issues. After running the XT32 setup I thought WOW, this sounds great, Video seems to be great too. After just a few weeks though I have joined the problem crowd- the receiver no longer will power on by remote. All other remote options work but power on will not.
Summary: Der Verstärker schmorte und rauchte. Bei der Einlieferung zur Reparatur ins Service Center wurde bereits gewarnt. Keine Ersatzteile daher keine Schätzung wann die Reparatur gemacht werden kann. Bisher ist auch nach 4 Wochen immer noch nichts passiert. Also weiter ohne Audio; kein TV, Video, da auch kein Ersatzgerät. Service Center kann nichts neues berichten. Nie mehr Onkyo.
Summary: Das Durschschalten der HDMI Quellen funktioniert einfach nicht zuverlässig. Mal klappt es sofort, mal klappt es garnicht. TV Meldet dann - Keine Signalquelle. Ich habe bestimmt 100 Meinungen im Internet recherschiert, welche genau die selben probleme haben wie ich, und die auch bei kleineren Geräte 6xx Klasse. Bei einigen wurde x mal das Videoboard getauscht. Innerhalb der Garantie begrenzt ärgerlich.
