Summary: Really enjoy this receiver after having established familiarity with the operation and menus. I have been into pro audio and Hifi for 45 years and have owned many receivers. I really enjoy the network capability although the apps are static and probably won't ever be upgraded. The only apps that I use are Spotify and Rhapsody. These apps only allow you to search and play the playlists that you have created.
Summary: I have an Onkyo that is over 20 years old. I purchased a Yamaha HTR 6080 at the time of my purchase it was a great bargain for a very well designed receiver that is equipped with state of the art features. Then I purchased a Yamaha RX-1065 because again it offered great features, connections and the reliability of the brand. I love Yamaha, but I also love Onkyo. So, after considering Yamaha once again, and Denon, I looked at Onkyo.
Summary: I have had this receiver for about 3 weeks now and I have to say, I'm impressed. There are so many features and options with this receiver, I haven't had time to go through them all. I haven't had much time to "mess" with it, but with the little that I have tuned and played with, I am totally blown away. One thing that is really impressive is the upscale ability of this receiver. Everything looks crisp and clean on the TV.
Summary: Gone are the days of listening to tones on vinyl while checking a sound pressure meter and adjusting separate equalizer frequencies. Now one only needs to plug in a precision microphone and let the tuner do the rest. The first tuner had a problem with the right rear speaker during calibration. I reported the defective unit online on Thursday, UPS picked up the defective unit on Monday and my new unit was delivered the following day.
Summary: I have had this for almost 1 month and so far its been great I have it run through a set of ss k30ed speakers for my mains and I have never heard them sound so good. The only thing I would recommend to someone considering getting this or any of the other onkyo receivers in this form factor is make sure you have the right furniture for this thing haha its tall almost 8 inches and heavy 40 lbs so buyer be ware. Its performance however is stellar.
Summary: This is my third Onkyo receiver having started with a TX-SR603 X, then a TX-SR 805 and now with the TX-NR809. Each has preformed great and given me fantastic Onkyo quality and sound. With the new TX-NR809 I now have network access and can enjoy high quality sound from internet radio, as well as being able to stream my music from my computer through DLNA.
I tried Yamaha, Onkyo HT RC 460 and this one, and it clearly stands out as the best.

Summary: This is one of the best receivers I have heard till date. I have heard that Denon's are better quality than these, so I went to Best Buy to compare the performance. I can say they both compete as you go up to High end receivers, but you can never get as many features as Onkyo for your buck compared to Denon while at the same time not compromising on quality. I can control the receiver from iPhone and Android as well stream music from both.
Summary: I have had this amp for 3 weeks and absolutely love it. Set up was a breeze once I got the amp in a good home due to the size. I think it is bigger than the measurements states as you need to leave room for the cables. I used the Audyssey set up and the sound is great. The bass is not over powering and the surround is blended seamlessly. From some of the reviews I have read they say the unit gets hot.
Summary: This is the best sounding receiver I have ever owned, and I have owned higher end receivers that have cost 5X as much! I cannot comment on the reliability yet, but I can say that there is a real audible difference between amplifiers. Compared to this amp, others I have owned have sounded subdued or demure. Although not as powerful as the more expensive amps I have owned, this amp produces a rich and warm sound.
