Less than two years with very mild use and no audio

Summary: I have had this unit for less than two years and I have no audio. The unit is under warranty so I will modify the star rating up if everything works out. Prior to this little debacle it was the best receiver I have ever owned in my short 44 year existence. We will see... OK I sent the receiver in for repair and it came back in perfect condition. It has worked ever since so I am going to turn this into a 4 star review.
Summary: Since the time that this came out, Onkyo has come out with several newer generations. In some ways, the features have improved, but in many ways they haven't. You can go to the Onkyo website to compare multiple models to see how the features compare to something like the newer 828 model. For practical purposes, this has the features I need, is far more capable than lesser models of its generation, and lesser models of the current generation.
2 months after the warranty expired it turned into a silent brick

Summary: 2 months after the 2 year warranty expired the unit started having problems playing audio after changing inputs. The problem worsened. Two months later it would not play audio at all. I called Onkyo support twice but never talked to a person. I left complete and detailed messages. No one has called me. I started looking on the Internet and found lots of other owners having the same problem getting the unit to work and getting Onkyo to respond.
Summary: I've had this receiver for about 3 months now and I love it. I'm actually writing this to help anyone who's having network error DNS-013. Not sure if you will receive this error with a wired network connection but if you are using an Onkyo wireless adapter and your receiver freezes up and no longer recognizes the wireless adapter or no longer recognizes a flash drive, etc. on your front USB port, try this: In the last 3 months this has happened to me 3 times.
Summary: Like many others here, I bought a new 809 because my old Onkyo was so good to me. Going from a SR501 to the NR809 is an absurd jump in quality, convenience, sound ... you name it. I love this receiver. And there's no way I'm giving it five stars. Because Onkyo's tech support is horrible. ASUS is embarrassed by Onkyo's support system. Like another reviewer, I called in with a minor problem. Basically, the sound was cutting out on certain channels from my STB.
Summary: Gick från en Pioneer VSX-LX60 till denna.
