Summary: My receiver no longer produces sound. I paid $800 for it in February 2010 and it no longer works. I called Onkyo and provided the circumstances and my information. They will review the claim (within 7-10 business days) and determine if a 1 time out of warranty repair can be done. Why does it take 7-10 business days to make a repair decision? Looking at the reviews of this product just on Amazon, it clearly is a flawed product. I will never purchase anything Onkyo again.
Summary: This is a very belated review on a product that I replaced yesterday. The replacement is NOT an Onkyo. I went the Denon route, another 7.2 channel receiver very similar to this one. I tested the Onkyo several time to confirm that it is in fact dead and is going to the trash. Seems like the amplifiers are burned out, probably due to the excess heat, which I noticed right away and concerned me a bit and I took precautions not to allow it to get too hot.
Summary: Purchased this receiver without doing a lot of research. I look back now and I wish I did. I thought Onkyo made reputable prodcucts but I guess I was wrong. The unit failed (no sound) after about a year. I went online to try and understand the extent of the problem and boy was I shocked! Several customers and I mean SEVERAL have had the same problem as I have had going back a few years and as recently as Sept 28th (a day after this post).

Summary: I bought this receiver in a trip to USA 3 years ago. It worthed the job, since in Brazil I'd spend 3 times Amazon's price. And I got pretty much what I expected: Good audio and video quality... for just 1 year!! Failures started in the audio, then I got no sound. Desperate, I rushed to the only authorized dealer here and learned that 2 out of 5 boards were dead.

DO NOT BUY THIS RECEIVER - HDMI BOARD FAILURE - NO SOUND
Amazon Customer, Amazon
25 April 2012
Summary: I rarely ever review products, but I wanted to give warning to anyone considering buying this unit. I've had this receiver for more than 2 years now. The first 21 months everything worked great, no problems. Then around month 21 of ownership, I noticed there were no speaker icons on the receiver screen and no sound. I took it in for repair and was notified the HDMI Board had failed (at a cost of $650 for the board if not covered under warranty).
Summary: Great receiver while it lasted, unfortunately six months out of warranty and it completely quite working. Onkyo customer service was less than helpful and they have very few service centers on the west coast. Sad to think I have a thousand dollar paper weight after two years. Stay away from Onkyo products.
DO NOT BUY THIS RECEIVER OR ANYTHING ELSE FROM ONKYO

Summary: I purchased this receiver less than a year ago. In that time, I have had to reset the receiver over 50 times and most recently the receiver has gone into a mode that does not allow any audio. I called and emailed Onkyo and they informed me that I will be required to send in the receiver and the receipt (even though I registered this receciver in my name and sent in the warranty card).
