Summary: This particular model is plagued with numerous faults. After three years of use a circuit board has faulted and the whole receiver has turned into a 35 pound paper weight. It is out of warranty and the cost of repairs outweigh the benefits.
While sound quality was good, the device itself does not last long before ...

Summary: This product worked well for about 2.5 years. Started shutting itself down when all 7 speakers are connected, so I had to reduce the number of attached speakers. A year later, the sound started to intermittently go away seconds after turning it on.
Summary: It may be a moot point by now for this model however, I have enjoyed my Onkyo 807 for around 5 yrs now! After 3 yrs, the HDMI board went south. Onkyo gave me an out of warranty fix, I was out of pocket only the cost of shipping one way. It's been a champ ever since.
Pros: Pre-outs, Rated at 135w per 2ch, Audyssey, multiple listening modes, Ethernet port, plenty of analogue and HDMI connectivity, 7.2 availability, even more features
Onkyo turns a defective product into a revenue stream at the expense of the consumer.

Summary: I can only echo the experience of others: The HDMI board (probably a combination of using sub-par capacitors and overheating) goes out. Repair/repeat ad nauseam. Onkyo won't sell you the board so you can replace it yourself.
Summary: My receiver no longer produces sound. I paid $800 for it in February 2010 and it no longer works. I called Onkyo and provided the circumstances and my information. They will review the claim (within 7-10 business days) and determine if a 1 time out of warranty repair can be done.
Summary: This is a very belated review on a product that I replaced yesterday. The replacement is NOT an Onkyo. I went the Denon route, another 7.2 channel receiver very similar to this one. I tested the Onkyo several time to confirm that it is in fact dead and is going to the trash.
Summary: Purchased this receiver without doing a lot of research. I look back now and I wish I did. I thought Onkyo made reputable prodcucts but I guess I was wrong. The unit failed (no sound) after about a year. I went online to try and understand the extent of the problem and boy was I shocked!
MORE OF THE SAME... HDMI BOARD FAILURE!! TWICE!!!!

Summary: I bought this receiver in a trip to USA 3 years ago. It worthed the job, since in Brazil I'd spend 3 times Amazon's price. And I got pretty much what I expected: Good audio and video quality... for just 1 year!! Failures started in the audio, then I got no sound.
Summary: I have been into Audiophile home theaters for about 6 years now, with upwards of $8,000 invested into my audio equipment (a modest investment compared to many). Anyway, after buying this receiver brand new, 2 years later, it went into the shop for a failing hdmi board.
