Summary: Ordered this for my mother through Amazon. Unit never worked right. 4K pass through never worked properly, lines across the screen. No subwoofer output. Had a burnt smell coming from unit. Contacted Amazon for a return. Cost $95 to return defective item to Amazon. Ordered a Pioneer VSX-1123 and it is working fine.
Summary: Prior to this receiver, I was a Sony man. Now I must say I am glad I rediscovered Onkyo. I have had several Sony and a couple of Denon receivers. and currently still have a Sony STR DH820 and an STR DN1010 (The 1010 is not working and is the reason I up graded to TX NR 727, by way of the Sony STR DN 1040, which just did not hold up.) After just over a month I was having problems with the HDMI channels not transmitting the signal.
Summary: replaced an old TX NR 708 (which was just under 3 years old). thankfully onkyo extended the warranty for a what appears to be common malfunction with the NR 708...if they hadn't, I wouldn't have considered getting another onkyo product. anyway, future proof, excellent sound (seems louder and higher fidelity than the 708), easy to set up (if you have experience with onkyo).
Summary: I'm only a few days in on this review and I'll update and edit as needed in the future but I definitely put the receiver through its paces over the last few days. Overall, this has been a solid performing receiver for both video and audio and has a full feature set that should essentially last me a very long time (assuming it doesn't die of course!). This unit replaced another brand new Sony STR-DN1040 (that I also reviewed..
Summary: To begin, my current home theater system consists of an LG 47LM8600 47-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 240Hz Dual Core LED-LCD HDTV and an LG BP620 3D Blu-Ray Player . It is by no means a sub-par listening experience, at least to my less than discerning ears, so I was not expecting too much of a noticeable difference with the Onkyo receiver. Setup was a laborious venture indeed.

Summary: I used this to upgrade from a Pioneer VSX-1020-K and I like it better in just about every way. First and most importantly, the audio quality. CNET called my old receiver "excellent" but the Onkyo has it noticeably beat. The default equalization (which I left alone) made the reference scenes I watched feel more real; like the characters were more in the room with you. The THX Select2 certification is no joke.
Summary: Overview: -Setup is kind of klutzy; not very intuitive. You should plan to devote a few hours to getting this set up properly. Read the manual. -Has Audyssey MultEQ which is an excellent feature. It's fairly easy to use and helps you get the best sound out of your components. It just takes time. -Supports both FM and AM. Some receivers are skipping the AM option.
Summary: I'm very pleased with my Onkyo receiver so far. It took a while to get everything set up, but the results were well worth the effort! This is a very high quality piece of equipment that provides more options than similar products, and offers outstanding sound quality. Setting it up wasn't difficult, especially due to the onscreen guide that made it easy. It just took a little time to complete.
The Onkyo TX-NR727 is practically everything you could want in a modern receiver!

Summary: 8/26/13 UPDATE Y'all! I just received a wonderful little jewel of a tidbit from the Onkyo USA Product Support department! They have a 24/7 toll free tel support AND a forum for anyone needing assistance! This is AWESOME for anyone with a super complicated system that has questions that they don't see answers to in the manual.
