Summary: Love my Onkyo TX-NR717. Haven't had a chance to try out all the features yet, but so far everything seems to work great. I had a Marantz SR4200 before, but the HDMI input and output broke, so I got this to replace it. I must said I'm very happy with Onkyo. I mostly use the pre-out feature because I have an external amp. As a matter of fact, that's the exact reason why I pick this model, it's for the pre-out. The only draw back to this product is the remote.
This is worth the effort! Glad I did not keep my SONOS!

Summary: I upgrade a 12 year old Onkyo 797 receiver because I desired better integration of my HDMI and Network Audio components. The old receiver, though amazing sound performance, lacked HDMI and I was out of optical ports. Enter the decision to use a SONOS system, or buy a TX-NR717. I kept the Onkyo, returned the SONOS.
Summary: Powerful enough to drive my highest-end Klipsch 12" sub, my PS-B towers. and surrounds with tiny THD and as much volume as I care to have. Compare specs when you buy: These ONKYOs have the lowest THD. Easy setup. Replaces a previous Onkyo whose video circuit kept blowing. So far, no probs with this one as per the first month.
Summary: The TX-NR717 was purchased about 6 months ago. I chose to run this alongside and Emotiva 5 channel amp and this pairing brought my Klipsch reference setup to life!!!. I particularly love this receiver for its options like streaming music, the 3d ready option, the amount of HDMI hookups and the ease of hooking this all up even with another amp. The setup screen for this AVR is very easy to navigate and super easy to understand.
Summary: Highs- Sound clarity overall - especially through center channel Video upscaling is simply best in class Value for money Ease of use - amazing tweekability Lows- Only that USB updating is necessary. Easy to do though. Tried Denon 1913 before deciding on the 717. Onkyo performed better overall, even with having only 2EQ. In my opinion Audessey is somewhat over-rated. I would not decide on a receiver based on which level Audessey it has.
Summary: This receiver is great for the price, along with Klipsch Speakers I here all the sound and more, I am still going through all of this 7.2 channel receive, and will come back and give a complete review, I replace the the Avr 391 Denon , It never work right with the HDMI pass through,
Summary: This unite replace an old Yamaha, that I loved, still using the JBL 5.1 speakers . This 717 makes 3D into 5D. I am very surprised to hear sound that never could on my old receiver. This unite was shipped in a double box, for which I'm happy Amazon did. The outer box was smashed in on 1 side, no damage to inside box Now for the 717 out of the box and setup in no time.
