Summary: I purchased this receiver in April 2012. It has been an excellent receiver until last night when suddenly the main HDMI out to the TV quite working. There was no picture but there was sound. Same with all the other input sources.
Summary: I bought the Onkyo TX NR709 because of the many inputs, network connection and price. The processor does a fine job of producing good channel separation in the many modes to choose from. So far it is the best receiver, as far as the processor goes, I have even had.
Pretty much as expected, but a little disappointed with Net features

Summary: I can rave all day long about the quality of Onkyo and the feature list of this receiver, but I'll leave that to the past reviewers. Let's just say I've always loved Onkyo and their features and quality are generally second to none.
Summary: Most of the features of the Onkyo have been great, including the sound management. The only issue I've had is when I was trying to view frame sequential 3D (full 1080p 3D) from a Panasonic Blu-ray player to a new Epson 3010 projector.
Very Good Receiver, good feature and priced right. HDMI problematic

Summary: I am upgrading from an 5 years old onkyo tx-sr605 to the tx-nr709. Here are my comments after 3 days of using it (connect with HDMI from cable box, blue ray dvd) 1. The tv picture seems to be better. Not much but it just seems so, perhaps the upscaling chip has something to do with it. 2.
Summary: I've had this NR709 Onkyo receiver for close to six months now. Besides the excellent sound, the icing on the cake for me has to be the Qdeo video chip. Using this video chip I'm able to scale any signal to 1080p or 1080p/24.
Summary: In terms of functionality and features nothing in the TX-NR709 price range even comes close. Onkyo packed so much into it, that I expected them to make compromises when it comes to sound and amplification quality. However, my non-audiophile ears cannot detect any such compromises.
Summary: This is a short review - I'll leave the technical stuff to the audiophiles. I recently bought a 60 inch LG HDTV from Amazon. I quickly found out that my 3 year old Sony AV receiver would not pass a 3D signal via HDMI from the PS3 and Directv boxes to the television.
