Summary: I have ONKYO receivers in the past and this is a pretty good one for the money. The unit may get hot and it will be the end of the sound experience for you! so, I recommend NOT to stuck up the unit; if it is possible use open / grill shelves, or use one shelf for the receiver and make sure the cabinet is well vented; if not try USB powdered quite cooling fans!
Pros: one compact design. It doesn't get hot as I thought so (make sure to have well ventilated shelf, do NOT stack the receiver(s) with other equipment). The set-up was very easy with the basic set-up page instructions. The supplied set-up microphone and TV-base instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was able to set the remote control for all devices (TV, BlueRay etc.) at first attempt! Now I am able use only 1 remote to control the TV, BlueRay, Cable Box, Receiver ...
Cons: I am not too much satisfy with the Audyssey speaker calibration, I done my own manual set up later on. The remote control capabilities are great however there is no back-light and it is enough to drop an egg for me.
Now it is Chromecast or Roku which will not give me audio like the MHL

Summary: Fits my surround system perfectly, however, I was not told that it is INCOMPATIBLE with my Galaxy S-5 phone for a MHL connection. I have a flat screen Samsung tv that does not have mirroring capabilities so the wire MHL was very important. Now it is Chromecast or Roku which will not give me audio like the MHL. Took many phone calls with Onkyo while waiting on hold for an hour of more to finally get them to call Samsung for confirmation of the MHL problem.
Excerpt: added this to a SONY 52XBR, POLK RM surrounds, XBOX 360, Apple TV & Harmony remote. Very easy plug and play setup. The microphone audio setup was quick & effective. Much fuller sound than with my old HK247. A powered Zone 2 is great for kitchen/outside speakers.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Summary: although as with probably all devices that are connected to other devices , with their own settings and remotes, for example , this device connected to a Samsung smart tv , and an xbox. ,for me anyway it , it gets complicated, particularly if you are trying to use a common remote. But this device, has the most bang for the buck-network, Bluetooth, 7.2 channels, hdmi, second room control and sharing, and they all work fine.
Summary: Best functionality and features in it's price range. However, it does not seem to be able to properly display my PC screen in the native resolution of my TV. I have a 720p TV, which is unusual. Need to set the PC display to 1080, then when the TV scales it down to 720, it loses clarity (resolution is less than 720). I can hook the PC to the computer directly at 720 for better video, but lose surround sound... I am hoping this issue goes away when I upgrade the TV...
I paid $299 for this unit and feel like I got well worth my money for the product

Summary: I've used this receiver for about a week now and I have no complaints with it, especially with the over 50% off retail price! I paid $299 for this unit and feel like I got well worth my money for the product. I've owned ONKYO in the past and never had any issues. Only issue is heat. Keep this receiver in a well ventilated area where it can breathe freely.
Excerpt: Purchased this full-featured AV Receiver when I upgraded my TV to a new hi def flat screen. Integrated not only the new TV, but some older components (DVD, CD Player, even a 10-year old iPod Dock) and Web-based apps like Amazon, Pandora, etc. Took some work but sound and programming have revitalized all of my home entertainment options! Unit took HDMI, component, and analog connection, wireless and Bluetooth, even optical audio and the Onkyo RI connector to my iPod dock.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality, Powers Second Speaker Set, Versatile Setup Options
Summary: I returned it to Newegg and selected a different receiver to replace it with. I had really considered just exchanging it for the same one because it is so good when it works but decide I didn't really want to take a chance on it.
Pros: Sound is great when it works correctly. Internet radio and Pandora worked great. Very easy to setup. It has every option you could possible need.
Cons: After about a week and a half the sound would go out after switching inputs or channels and would take about five to ten minutes to return. It would do this regardless of what input was selected. After about a week of doing that it started working perfect for a few days. After a few days it started to have the same issue again.
Summary: Very happy with this receiver. I was able to replace the old surround sound receiver quickly while replacing my old composite connections with HDMI, resulting in fewer cables and better sound as the HDMI cables combine audio and video in one cable. I got the extra advantage of WiFi connection and many of the Internet ready music services. Love the performance and the price.
