Summary: Well, after 25 months, my sound went out just like the others. I have ordered the following capacitors to replace them myself for the HDMI board. Summary: Purchased December 2011. Its now March 31, 2014 and its dead. The HDMI out is having issues, but from reading the forums, its pretty common for the NR606 and 609 to fail right after 2 years. It started with the HDMI going out for a few minutes. I'd turn it off and on and most of the time it would come back - terrible for watching a movie. This week though it just failed altogether. Sound was fine but no picture. Nothing could get it to work. It's just dead.
Summary: Purchased this receiver in late 2011, and now, roughly 2.5 years later, it has failed - no sound. A quick search shows this is a common and KNOWN issue with this model by the manufacturer. We were very happy with the unit... until it failed! Awaiting resolution from Onkyo customer service. Will post an update if/when the issue is resolved.
Summary: 22 months in with quite a few intermittent HDMI "glitches". Now I have zero sound from any HDMI source. Powering off and waiting fixed it for a bit. Then I did a firmware upgrade and it was OK again for a week or so. Now I am back to being dead in the water. Factory resets, power offs, prayers...nothing works. ONKYO sucks.
Summary: This receiver worked perfectly for 20 months. Until suddenly it just stops working... It has power and the settings menu works. However, audio or video from any device is no longer working. I see a lot of negative reviews about them breaking down around the 18-24 month mark, and sadly its all true.

Summary: I did extensive research before buying my TX NR609 in late 2011. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but Onkyo had a great reputation and I convinced myself that this would be the centerpiece of my entertainment system for many years. Now my HDMI video won't work, only the audio is output. I quickly found out the issue after doing some research on their own support forum, here, and around the web.

Summary: I had been very happy with this product since the purchase back in March 2012. Now, 17 months later the unit just stopped sending video to the TV. If I leave it turned off for a day I can get video for about 3-4 hours but then it cuts out again. The unit gets extremely hot and I'm guessing that this has caused some components within the unit to fail. Sad, really, as I liked it. Reading online it appears that this is a common failure of this Onkyo AVR.
