Amazing

Ryan B., Newegg
24 July 2014
  • Summary: Would give 5 stars if they allowed the ability to reassign the speaker output channels.
  • Pros: Amazing video processor. My Oppo BDP93 also has the Qdeo but the Onkyo dramatically improves the picture quality. XT32 makes a significant improvement in sound over the older plain-jane MultEQ. My 8 year old Jamo's have found new life with this receiver. Running in 7.1 config with front-high spea...
  • Cons: You can not reassign the output channels. I planned to run 9.2 config with F, C, Sur, FH with the 8th & 9th channels to bi-amp the F speakers. Onkyo has designated the Front High channel as the bi-amp channel for the Fronts. So I have two channels that become worthless to my particular (and commo...

Do yourself a favour and get the TP-Link wireless adapter for this

James Tee, Amazon
16 May 2014
  • Summary: I have last year's nearly identical model (the TX-NR5009). We use the receiver to power 2 other zones (as powered-zones vs pre-amped unpowered). When the speakers in the other 2 zones (in addition to main room) are all on and at higher levels, it does cause the receiver to power off - maybe too many...

Great receiver. Worth the spend

Tenac182, Amazon
3 April 2014
  • Summary: Great power. 2nd channel for subwoofer really pushes bass. Easy setup, almost plug n play. Only downside and it's being picky is no built-in Wifi.

Beware that Onkyo AV receivers have well-known HDMI board problems

Jeff Bramel, Amazon
29 March 2014
  • Summary: For what it's worth -- I also have had problems with my TX-NR5008 (previous flagship model). The sound dies after about two years due to a well-known HDMI board failure issue. It's now happened to me twice. But don't take my word for it, Google it and decide for yourself.

TX-NR3010

Rhett B., Newegg
26 January 2014
  • Summary: Saw this on sale for 1589 and bought it instantly. It is purchased for our theater room and replacing an older Onkyo TX-SR805. The sound quality is just amazing and the audessy is fantastic.
  • Pros: easy setup, plenty of hook-ups, top of the line audessy with sub eq, on-screen display is great, video quality is absolutely amazing, input switching is quick, plenty of power.
  • Cons: Runs a little warm, make sure well ventilated. Does not pass thru 4k.

Onkyo gets it right

Phillip G., Amazon
29 November 2013
  • Summary: I purchased the 5010 to replace my earlier Onkyo TX-NR5007 that was cursed from the start. Onkyo treated me well with free, after-warranty service on the 5007, and I liked the similar app-based remote control and streaming features I had grown to like with my TX-NR616, so I pulled the trigger.

Just about perfect...

Worf101, avsforum.com
29 October 2013
  • Summary: I had thought about getting a new AV Receiver for a long, long time. I'd had several down through the years... mostly Onkyo's of various stripes. My then current receiver in my main living room system was the venerable Onkyo TX-NR905 that I'd bought used off the Bay almost 7 years ago.
  • Pros: Extremely Flexible. Torroidal Power. Relatively Easy to Set Up. Powered Zone 2 for ALL Inputs!
  • Cons: Heavy as all get out. Does NOT have the most popular streaming channels. Still have to have a WiFi Dongle to Connect to the Net or Home Network

awesome receiver to boast off

Dunston, Amazon
19 May 2013
  • Summary: Well i did not buy this receiver from amazon, i picked it from a onkyo distributor where i live by. Just wanted to share my review about this awesome receiver, using a 7.1 channel setup with Focal audio Chorus 836V, Chorus SR 800 V, Chorus CC 800 V, Chorus SW 800 V , i have to admit never had the...

Careful - expensive for short life span.

Sam "CDx", Amazon
21 March 2013
  • Summary: I find it interesting that so many people have down voted my review here. Wouldn't others like to know the truth concerning others experiences with a company and their products? Anyway - I bought the 5008 from Amazon in May 2010. ~2 years later - no sound.

Great sound but some flaws with video

Horace Crenshaw, Amazon
18 March 2013
  • Summary: Great sound with movies and music. There is just one thing I have found wrong. When I set the Video to Custom, the picture is not solid. There is a flicker when there is a fast motion. It's kind of hard to explain. You'll need to see it to understand what I mean by "not solid".
