No Sound After Extended Standby Mode as Reciever Ages (39 months in my case)
19 June 2014
Summary: Onkyo has a great sounding product when it works, but it indeed has some reliability issues. I am a EE so it isn't like I am a novice with electrical engineering issues as I actually work in test engineering.
Summary: Purchased this unit in 2010 November, so it is 3 years that I own it. Besides of having a complex setup to tune it to its user's habits, it produced a beautiful sound, but then suddenly speakers went dead. No sound coming out of speakers whatsoever.
Summary: This Onkyo very expensive receiver is an absolutely unreliable piece of crap. As a practical matter, given the role this unit plays in my home theatre, the lousy customer service of Onkyo, and the best-case estimate of how long it will take to get this thing fixed (the first time),I will have to...
Summary: Bought this heavy hunk of junk July 2, 2011.Today is April 26, 2013. I logged on to Amazon just to see when I had purchased this item because "it felt like yesterday" I actually love this unit but didnt expect it to crap out so abruptly and so soon.It replaced an old Yamaha receiver that STILL...
Summary: This receiver worked great out of the box for a couple months then channels cut out sound clicks out for no reason and lost connectivity to the network. I took it in for repairs twice the first time they replaced the HDMI BOARD as the said its a common problem. This did not fix anything.
Summary: The have had issues with the following receivers (description from the Onkyo web site); Models: TX-NR708, TX-NR709, TX-NR808, TX-NR1008, TX-NR3008, TX-NR5008, PR-SC5508, HT-RC270, HT-RC370 If your receiver of the above mentioned models experiences the following : Listening modes automatically change...
Summary: I recently purchased this receiver from Amazon. The unit's extensive list of features made it an interesting product. However, after using the receiver for only 10 days, the unit suddenly stopped working.
Summary: Pros: Great specs, tons of features Cons: Reliability. The receiver has a design/manufacturing flaw that causes a module to stop working after a short time and requires a retrofit. YOU have to pay for shipping to one of Onkyo authorized service centers, plus insurance.
