great system for the price, connectivity is awesome

Summary: Definitely get the Onkyo 2 remote app, and connect the stereo to your network. You can do anything with it. From Pandora to speaker calibration, setting up inputs and outputs, audio characteristic formatting... its all there. Would be nice to have A and B front speakers, but the 5.1 is really good. Haven't tried the 2nd zone yet, but this stereo is a great addition to my household.
Summary: My comments are for the Onkyo TX-NR414 Receiver and the Polk Audio RM705 Surround Speaker System together(I purchased both of course, from Amazon). My background is: I am a 2 channel stereo audiophile that loves classical music, especially early Baroque operas, for over 40 years. So, I bought the two units(above)to do two things: playback movie soundtracks, and listen to music, mostly classical.
Summary: I researched several low-end AV receivers and this was the cheapest I found that had a standby power pass-through. What that means is the AV signal can go through the receiver to the TV even with the power off (or perhaps more accurately, in standby). I also read several professional reviews stating this was a real nice unit for the money, perhaps the best. The on screen menus are quite good and simple.
Pros: This ONKYO TX-NR414 5.1-Channel 3-D Ready Network A / V Receiver is a verry good product and I am satisfact to have a lot of good experiences with it. I am also very pleased with the possibilities.
Cons: The price quality is quite good at this and at Newegg. Recommend everyone to buy at Newegg.
Summary: Got it for under $200. Works well for 3D. Currently working with 2 HDMI, 1 Wii, 1 Aux and 1 TV/CD input. Haven't tested other HDMI inputs yet. Internet radio works great. Comes with 2 year manuf warranty. No upconverting so for non-HDMI consoles/devices need to use a separate video cable as described in the quick setup manual. Like the preset buttons. Have used Denon AVR-1610 before. Would have got a Denon if could afford it.
Summary: Dollar for dollar and feature for feature, value is unbeatable and believe me, I CHECKED. No regrets, glad I pulled the trigger. BTW, NewEgg is 100% behind their products, no problems whatsoever re: returning buggy Yamaha receiver.
Pros: Purchased for $199 - great deal!. Receiver needed firmware update which went OK via ethernet. So far no issues. Setup menus not as intuitive as Yamaha RXV373 (purchased earlier but overheated and began acting buggy-unit returned)and sound is on par, maybe a bit inferior to my ears but sound stage effects not as processed sounding as Yamaha's(totally subjective of course). On the other hand, more inputs, network capability, separate zone 2 output, good tech support (3 ...
Cons: Needed firmware update out of box, but that went well seamlessly
Summary: Perfect match for the Bose Acoustimass 10 Series IV. Recommend to everyone. Easy installation and speakers connection. No problems since purchase Dec 2012. Use the Onkyo almost every day with the TV and CD player.
Summary: I bought this receiver ready to go through the update process just to make it work, with the possibility of the only app not working at all (based on other reviews). Pleasantly, the unit is now shipping fully operational. I took another reviewer's advice and am using a TP-Link wireless adapter that I had lying around ... it works perfectly. The menu structure is clear, though wordy if you're not hooking the box to a tv.
