Summary: I've had this stereo for over 2 years now and I've had multiple problems with it. First the video stopped working and I had to spend $100 to ship it in for a warranty repair, a new HDMI board. Then the TV audio stopped working and it is no longer in warranty. So, I have a very expensive stereo just sitting here because I don't want to spend another $100 to send it in, plus repair costs.
Summary: Mine just died last night after 2 years + 1 month. Based on the reviews I see here, this is a common problem. The sound quality and feature set was definitely good for the price. It sounded amazing.
Summary: I have been using a Yamaha DSP-A1 HT amp for 10+ years. It supports 7.1 channels when everyone else was making 5.1 channel receivers. The 2 additional channels are positioned as "front wide". So the 7 speakers in my family room are arranged to have have 3 in the front (left/right/center) and the other 4 placed close to the 4 corners. Yamaha's own Cinema DSP processing enhances the standard Dolby/DTS 5.1 sound and the improvement is readily audible.
