Jincy John, Amazon
17 January 2010
  • Summary: This is one of best 9.2 receiver available in the market. But my question is What kind of speakers your people used for this unit, because i called onkyo regarding this issue they said they are not making any speakers for this unit, they have 130W speakers max.

CardioDoc, Amazon
17 January 2010
  • Summary: I have had this unit for sometime now. The sound and functionality is great. I had the previous 876 so this was easy to learn. Love streaming Pandora through ethernet. Known flaw - sound goes out after several on/off cycles.

Donald Dump, Amazon
17 January 2010
  • Summary: This is a unit that performs very well if you can find one, The down side is that it runs very hot (you can burn yourself if you touch it) and it has reliability problems that I think stem from the high operating temperatures. Also it can not process 3d video.

Mislabeled in Picture

Chris M., Newegg
27 November 2009
  • Summary: The "What's in the box picture" in this has the Audessy Mic mislabeled as an "Antenna". It is not an antenna, it is a microphone used for calibrating your system.
  • Pros: I don't own this particular model however I do own a vrey similar Onkyo. I am very hapy with the brand.
  • Cons: None Found -- maybe a bit better documentation, but again I can't say this one does not have different documentation than mine

Update to paging via networking

Jody J., Newegg
28 September 2009
  • Summary: Use the left & right buttons for paging vs. up & down for moving one at a time. Isn't noted in the manual but it works when going against a Windows Home Server.
  • Pros: Paging works.
  • Cons: Still slow to get through several thousand songs. Need to organize them. Would be great if we could select a starting letter for song title, etc.

Great receiver...could be better.

Jody J., Newegg
27 September 2009
  • Pros: Almost everything one could think of. I have it hooked up to speakers in the main room and two secondary locations. The additional speaker terminals to support 9.2 work well for my setup. The network access is able to access files & directories faster than I've noticed from my home PCs and media ...
  • Cons: HD Radio that is built into my TX-SR876 is not built into this receiver or the TX-NR5007. An add-on module must be purchased. Another add-on module is available to hookup a iPod. To my knowledge it doesn't support both modules at once. If you have a lot of music on a home server this receiver has...
