Summary: I purchased the TX-NR1010 on March 2014, and as expected the item was delivered in perfect timing by Amazon. However, I did not open nor try to use the system until now, and to my surprise, the receiver did not power up. Unfortunately I am not able to return/replace it through Amazon anymore (I guess they only gave me a month for that), so I have to go through Onkyo directly.
Summary: My old Onkyo was still a beast but wanted to be able to watch 3D movies, so needed to upgrade. Was looking for similiar specs to my 7 year old flag ship model. This was very close and about 1/3 the price of what I paid for my old one. Works like a charm. I've owned Onkyo Recievers since 1994 or whenever the first THX reciever, 919, was offered. This is my 5th Onkyo Reciever in the last 20 years. I still use 3 of them and donated the others to friends.
Summary: Would Buy Again: Only Missing feature - Airplay. If you are this far, you have reviewed specs and compared to other receivers. I really like my choice - but needed convincing. Short story, I would do it again (Have had this for about 9 months). I was totally set on getting an Anthem (North American Product), but my theater consultant talked me into this receiver. Multiple HDMI inputs (9), two HDMI outputs, and every bell and whistle - save for one: Airplay.
Summary: Upgrading my Onkyo AV Receiver every 3 years or so to keep up with maintaining the latest evolving A/V Standards & technology. This unit has it all to include video source up scaling to the new 4K HD Video Standards coming along provided you have a Video source that will display 4K. I do not as yet have a 4K DLP Projector but when prices drop to an affordable level I am ready. I usually donate my older units to friends or family who could make good use of them.
Summary: I've only had it for about a week. So it doesn't give me ample time to comment but so far I can say the unit is indeed heavy due to transformer weight. It nearly requires 2 men to lift. Build quality is superb and it has very nicely organized back where connections are. Had no problems using banana speaker plugs. Too bad it did not come with manual although it comes with CD. Packing was very nice and well protected from shipping damage.
Summary: It dose my nut in when people who.didn't buy the amp slate it, I have the 1010 it's outstanding in any format you want to use on it I have minidisc cd and this amp bests my.marantz pm 7000 stereo amp plus my b&0 system including when used with it's top end cd player this amp truly brings music to a complete different level to the point you don't need a top end stereo amp, I give the onkyo 1010 10 out.of 10 don't listen to the idiot thats pulling the amp down, the build...
Summary: Sound is crisp and has a deep bass. With proper speakers barely needs a subwoofer. Best part is that you can have 2 Subs installed. Pandora and Internet radio work seamlessly, at a high bitrate with good quality sound (depending on the radio) The on screen menu lacks of good design, but it really doesn't matter. Maybe in an following update. Recommend to anyone.
Summary: I love this receiver! It's nothing but the truth:To me,it is a waste of money buying the 3010 or the 5010! this machine has the power and the performance! This receiver is pure Beast! It got muscle, and big balls! It will last you a life time with the Panamax 5300!Clean power is performance!I have a 82'mitsubishi television ,oppo BDP-103.Tivo box,and xbox 360 connected and ever thing work great! This receiver is truly top shelf.
Summary: I love this receiver. It does weigh alot. I have issues with monster banana plugs fitting. But the quality of sound that it produces and the amount of power are amazing. It has lots of cool features as described. The only thing that frustrates me is that the plugs from monster only work in my speakers but not in the back of the reciever. But if thats the only problem i say its still a good pick to buy.
