A great simple 5.1 receiver for the amateur/entry level pro home theater

cine3838, Ebay
6 May 2012
  • Summary: Great simple 5.1 receiver, built like a tank. Enough power for a simple home theater set up. I also own a TX-DS575 - another great Onkyo staple. The Pro Logic II built in decoder is it's big selling point - it's great for older laser discs and VHS tapes that have Dolby Surround. It's a sort of simulated stereo surround in the 2 rear channels, where a Pro Logic decoder only does mono surround in the 2 rear channels. For the price, you can't beat the quality of this unit!

Great for 1/2 hour

  • Summary: It sounded great for 1/2 hour until it blew a transistor. $100 to fix a receiver I got for $71. I still love Onkyo. I have had an older model for 11 years. Use it almost everyday with no problems.

Onkyo receiver

leroux173, Ebay
31 January 2009
  • Summary: I just hooked up my record player and cd player as well as the front speakers to the receiver. The unit have a good quality and given the chance to buy again, I would. It is versatile enough to use with my family room set up if that receiver would no longer work. I am very happy with the performance and the many functions it has.

Onkyo TX-DS 595

boria47, Ebay
9 January 2009
  • Summary: This receiver have many features like recent units. You can expand to a 7.1 with the speaker B switch(stereo only).I like the sound and is kind of easy to set up. Two things that I'm not so happy about are that the unit is bulky and the universal remote do not work with newer model unit.

Great Surround Receiver

scojovb12, Ebay
26 May 2007
  • Summary: I have one at home running my KEF 2005.2 5.1 set up and they sound great. I've had this receiver for about 5 years now and it'll be another 5 years till I upgrade to a newer HD reciever from Onkyo. Onkyo and Denon are the best receivers out there, don't waste your money on crap like sony. This thing is build like a tank and never gets hot. I would rate it excellent but it could use somemore inputs and outputs, but that's all.

Lots of bang and thump for your buck!

Jasmine T. Baer, Amazon
12 April 2002
  • Summary: My family and I could not have picked a better receiver for our first foray into the world of home theater. Installation was a breeze, and all of the knobs, switches and connectors are clearly marked to ensure that mistakes are minimized. Set up/configuration was easy - just follow the instructions in the manual, and either interface via the remote control or the knobs on the actual component.

Excellent Sound and Features

Jetmaker, Amazon
11 January 2002
  • Summary: I bought this receiver to replace a 6 year old Sony (STR-D915). I had no idea what I was missing! The sound quality of this Onkyo absolutely kicks butt on the Sony. I am extremely pleased with it. For both music and home theater the sound is excellent. One important feature on this unit: it has A+B speaker switching. A lot of receivers these days don't. If you want to drive speakers in another room you will want this.

Alix, Audio Stereo

  • Summary: Właściwie większość opisałem powyżej.
