Summary: purchased here on amazon februrary 2, 2011. today janurary 24,2013 it no longer works, the HDMI board on these is faulty and onkyo is ignoring the problem. see here for more people with the same problem [...] also do google search and you will see that buying onkyo is bad choice.
Summary: I purchased this one on December 20, 2010. I was using it for all of my inputs: apple tv, blue ray player, dish box, hdmi input from PC, and the usb input for Ipod/Iphone... Most of the time the receiver was off and the signal was going through - I am a light user and the volume is never more than 65 in the house. The receiver started to act funny two weeks ago, just losing sound at random times.
Summary: I had purchased this receiver in the fall of 2010. The receiver was easy to setup and use. It was plugged into a home theater surge protector. A cabinet thermal cooling fan utilized. After being plugged in for <24 hours, it would turn on by itself, turn off by itself, and when it self turned off it would not turn on again for hours. I thought the firmware update would possibly correct this problem.
Summary: Out of the box, I loved this reciever; 7.2 sound and network capabilities. However after about 6 months of usage, I had to send it in for repair. It was under warranty and I was lucky enough to be near an authorized Onkyo maintenance center. After two weeks, I was phoned by the repair shop to say that they couldn't fix it and it would need to be shipped to Onkyo.
Summary: I have had several Onkyo HT receivers over the past 15 years [usually handing down mine to my children when upgrading]. This is/was a terrific unit but it's given up the ghost twice now in 18 months [different problem]. I've had a lot of audio equipment over 45 years and I've never had such an experience. And requesting warranty service today [Dec '12] involves so much more 'red tape' than it did in Jun '11.
All the features in the world don't matter if it won't work...

Summary: *Update Sept. 2012* Mine broke down as expected within weeks of taking out of the box.(I knew when I bought it I was getting a bargain price based on multitudes of reviews stating that it would begin cycling through listening modes shortly after beginning use. I knew that it would need to be serviced and factored that into the purchase price) I sent it to be repaired up in Michigan at the authorized repair center and in the months since, it has worked without a problem.

Summary: I purchased this receiver through Warehouse deals as refurbished. The receiver worked for approx 3 weeks, until it switched itself to CAB/SAT and wouldn't respont to any input (front panel or remote). I contacted Onkyo support who apparently do not support refurb models. Outstanding. I was able to unplug the unit for a few hours, and get it to work for another few days. It's to the point now where unplugging the unit and resetting it does not fix the problem.
