Been a great receiver. Easy to use. Onkyo customer support was very friendly & helpful.

Summary: It's been a great receiver since January 2011. Now mine also has the problem of No Audio from the HDMI. But I had a great experience with customer service. Call 201-785-2600 for customer support. Onkyo is standing behind their products, and is offering either a Free repair service, or you can opt for a trade-in. After I spoke with customer service, I received an email, and filled out the pertinent info on the supplied link.
Summary: I purchased this problem on 1/3/2011. Last year, it stopped playing any audio but the video still worked. I assumed it was a "bad" HDMI cable and procrastinated buying a new cable and testing it. I eventually replaced the HDMI cable and contacted Onkyo customer service. After waiting on hold for 25 minutes, I left a message for a return call. Several hours later, I called back and waited on hold for 42 minutes. The service rep.

Summary: Once the firmware updates to fix the NET functions were released, it was much more stable. I did need to send it into the shop to fix the problem with it cycling through the inputs, but it was covered under warranty. No problems since, as that was a couple of years ago. Only issue I have (which is more a nuisance than anything else) is that when a DVR is going through the receiver, if the input is something else when the unit is turned off, then when the dvr used again...
Summary: purchased here on amazon februrary 2, 2011. today janurary 24,2013 it no longer works, the HDMI board on these is faulty and onkyo is ignoring the problem. see here for more people with the same problem [...] also do google search and you will see that buying onkyo is bad choice.
Summary: I purchased this one on December 20, 2010. I was using it for all of my inputs: apple tv, blue ray player, dish box, hdmi input from PC, and the usb input for Ipod/Iphone... Most of the time the receiver was off and the signal was going through - I am a light user and the volume is never more than 65 in the house. The receiver started to act funny two weeks ago, just losing sound at random times.
Summary: I had purchased this receiver in the fall of 2010. The receiver was easy to setup and use. It was plugged into a home theater surge protector. A cabinet thermal cooling fan utilized. After being plugged in for <24 hours, it would turn on by itself, turn off by itself, and when it self turned off it would not turn on again for hours. I thought the firmware update would possibly correct this problem.
Summary: Out of the box, I loved this reciever; 7.2 sound and network capabilities. However after about 6 months of usage, I had to send it in for repair. It was under warranty and I was lucky enough to be near an authorized Onkyo maintenance center. After two weeks, I was phoned by the repair shop to say that they couldn't fix it and it would need to be shipped to Onkyo.
Summary: I have had several Onkyo HT receivers over the past 15 years [usually handing down mine to my children when upgrading]. This is/was a terrific unit but it's given up the ghost twice now in 18 months [different problem]. I've had a lot of audio equipment over 45 years and I've never had such an experience. And requesting warranty service today [Dec '12] involves so much more 'red tape' than it did in Jun '11.
