Summary: I will keep this short. The receiver is pretty awesome. The remote control totally sucks or maybe I just got a bad. one. Also the HD tuner could not pick up hardly any channels with a huge external FM antenna.
Summary: My first receiver was a Marantz back in 1976. Over the years it served me well. In the early 90's, I bought a JVC, and was quite happy with it, until I collected more upscale components like an LCD-TV, Blu-Ray player, etc. Decided to go for the Marantz again, and found it a bit difficult to set-up. However, once completed, I am in love with the Marantz all over again!
Summary: This is an incredible piece of equipment.....especially for the price. Some people might be overwhelmed by all the bells and whistles. This unit is very complicated and the manual could be better but figuring it out is part of the fun for me. I don't think you could do better as far as function but be prepared for a big learning curve.
Summary: I have been using Marantz tuner and receivers for a long time that is from late 1960s. This is no different from other marantz equipments. This is very powerful unit to drive speakers that built very long time ago. This speakers were built such way that small and lower quality amplifier could not drive this speakers but this marantz unit drove my speakers no problem and sound fantastic.
Summary: I upgraded to the Marantz SR8002 receiver to allow HDMI switching I was missing in my 6 year old Pioneer Elite receiver. While the pioneer was no slouch in audio reproduction of all sources, this Marantz is on a higher plane. Audio quality was the most important aspect to me in the search that led me to the Marantz. Yes, the new models coming from vendors do have a few extra bells and whistles (Ipod Docks Etc.
Summary: This is an excellent buy for anyone looking for a top of line AV Receiver. They are brand new in the box. These are not refurbished units. I registered mind with Marantz of North America and confirmed the 3 year warranty. They do come with a different remote (upgraded) from the one in the picture. The SR8002 sounds awesome. I have mind setup for 7.1. Hooked up to a PS3 & Direct TV. It was easy to hook up using the auto setup.
Awesome sound quality for Music and Movies. Period.

Summary: I recently upgrading my home theater system. Got KEF IQ90 floor stands, KEF IQ60C center, KEF IQ30 surrounds and ps3. I have ordered Marantaz SR 8002 good discount at Amazon. Also ordered Denon 3311 since it got all bells and vigils (more features like networking, usb etc.). Cost almost same after discount. With basic setup and auto tuning by Marantaz. We are blown away by sound quality of music. I did not have subwoofer connected yet. But is sounds great for music.
