Summary: I've owned a Denon 33xx for 6 years and tried buying a Pioneer SC-77 to replace it a few weeks ago. The Pioneer had good sound but a terrible UX and its video HDMI output was broken at 1080p. Rather than replace it, I read about the Denon 4250ci and this Marantz SR7008 and decided to switch. The switchover was far easier than the Pioneer and the setup was well designed. The UX is lightning fast (a refreshing change).
Amazing sound and performance, app control slow...

Summary: First and foremost this receiver has phenomenal sound. I waited a couple of months since purchase so that I could have some time to accurately review it and let me say its been a wonderful time. I was originally looking to spend only $1000 on a new receiver and was looking at the Marantz SR6008 as a long shot at $1200. Then I went to look at the 6008 and my local dealer was sold out!
Far better than I expected - clean, and airy with a great lower end.

Summary: I have had Denon, Axiom, Onkyo, Integra, and Emotiva. I dislike the Denon due what I can describe as a high end cut off causing the sound to be very flat and dull. The Axiom was powerful but... dull. The Emotiva was also exceptionally power and smooth, but lacked deep end. Both the Onkyo and the Integra was the same and very good - however, their customer service lacked so much it got me worried so I dumped the product.
Summary: My ONKYO TX NR807 died, and found this receiver on the AMAZON warehouse deals page for $500 off retail price, open box with used classification. Received in original packaging, only thing different from a new one is the remote already had the batteries in it. The receiver itself had not one mark or bit of dust on it anywhere (it was brand new). Still had product advert sticker on front too. I highly recommend buying from warehouse deals area of amazon!!!
Summary: But once we got it set up, it's pretty A W E S O M E! Came from a Yamaha receiver and I must say, this product FAR exceeds the sound quality for sure! Runs real hot so a fan system is pretty much required if your thinking of purchasing.
Summary: The Good: Let me start by saying that this receiver sounds amazing. The multiple zone feature is exactly what I needed for my home. I have the main zone set up as a 5-1 surround sound, the second zone in my family room and the third in my patio. The system works as promised. Set up was a little complicated with the 3 zones and required some adjustments of settings to make the zone 2 and zone 3 speakers sound good.
Summary: I purchased this receiver to replace my Onkyo TX707 which was working great, no problems, I just wanted to be able to use HDMI audio in my 2nd zones (which the Onkyo could not do). I was going back and forth between the Denon and the Marantz for about a month before I decided on the Marantz. The Denons had lots of great features and it was a hard decision to make but there were just too many negative reviews on the Denons.
