Summary: I purchased the Marantz SR7007 after a significant price break, and received it quickly, in new condition from Crutchfield. As you can see from the photos, Marantz makes a very 'pretty' receiver. The on-screen menus are great, as well. HDMI switching seemed solid(no flickering, etc). I truly feel that's where the good stuff ends. Using multiple sources in multiple zones did not perform well.
Pros: Pretty blue bezel Nice on-screen menu Solid HDMI switching
Cons: Lacks HDMI audio output to other zones Lacks power to speakers compared to similar priced models Mobile iOS app had some issues communicating the proper commands (not a WiFi issue)
Summary: I could not get the unit to recognize either a CD or a DVD player - disappointing. But the other aspect that was disappointing was that it would not create a 5 channel signal from a 2 channel source. I would guess (not sure) that it does not have Dolby/DTS/THX or anything that were in my Denon 4802 (not sure about all the labels, but I do know that the 4802 would somehow create surround sound from a 2 channel source and it is over 10 years old).
Summary: The SR-7007 sounds amazing! If you want a receiver for music and movies, you should buy this now. It's a great deal. If you are into gaming like my family, you need to look for something else. There is a delay when the play station passes through the receiver that makes using a lot of games impossible. My kids love dance revolution, but not on the Marantz SR-7007. What a shame! It will be going back.
