Summary: This receiver is fantastic - the sound system sounds so much better using this as compared to our old one. The speakers we have are the 5.1 - and we can't seem to get the outdoor speakers to work properly - even had a tech out - the unit seems to read the outdoor speaker as the 2 speakers to make it...
It is down again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE... EVER

Summary: I purchased the SR 7005 refurbished from an authorized repair dealer. Cosmetically it attractive with the return of the classic marantz porthole. I was replacing a Denon AVR 3802, the denon would not decode the newer audio programming and lacked HDMI connectivity.
after all the time having it on it hasn't disappointed so what can I say

Summary: Originally built in Japan now China.....can't guarantee quality control. That being said, after all the time having it on it hasn't disappointed so what can I say... If can get it cheaper go for it.
Summary: All of my equipment runs through this receiver via HDMI. There is an annoying delay of four to five seconds when even doing something as mundane as changing TV channels while we do the HDMI handshake thing. Aggravating to say the least. The Onkyo it replaced had no such problem.
Summary: I'm not into super long reviews so here you go! Pros: Great Pass Through for Audio and Video 6 HDMI inputs (I actually need 7 or 8, but oh well) Video conversion on the fly with audio delay match - My PS3 won't play directly into my old LG TV 1080i at all. Everyone with my TV has this problem.
Summary: Bought first unit as a refurb January 2012. In first five minutes of start up it overheated, smoked a bit and shut off. Marantz support was better than expected in no-nonsense offer to replace it. Replacement unit intermittently blanked video and occasionally audio linked through HDMI.
Summary: and Good Looking too. Bought this in March to replaced a dying Onkyo receiver. Saved about $400 by getting this, "last year's model" over the SR7007. Plenty of inputs and speaker connections, like that it has both HDMI and analog inputs for those of us who can't part with our old VHS players.
Summary: I was replacing an old Marantz receiver because i was upgrading my projector. The old unit did not have HDMI out puts, but the quality of the receiver was great. I went with the same brand and was happy I did. It was easy to set up and the sound quality is great.
