Summary: The feature pack is excellent. The remote programmes to control all my equipment including DVD, BD, TV & Cable Box. Sound is very warm and fits perfectly with my satellite speaker package. Airplay is fantastic and the network links easily with my media server. I'm also able to use the TV through this receiver as a 3rd monitor and watch online content (setup as a 3rd monitor and connected from my PC to the Marantz).
Summary: Please allow me to give you my impressions of the Marantz SR5006. I've read some very negative comments by others. I agree with some but not all of them. First of all if you have never set up a home theater receiver before be aware that there is a learning curve. The owner's manual comes on a CD Rom. You do get a hard copy of "Getting Started" which was a help. But I chose to print out the CD Rom. One hundred and forty nine pages were printed. This is my second HTR.
Summary: I spent sometimes to read reviews of this receiver in both Amazon and Bestbuy website and listen to different speakers paring with it in Bestbuy showroom. The sound quality is amazing. Well paring with B&W speaker. Setup is easy. Some reviews complain about GUI but in my opinion, it is OK. How often you use it? Just for initial setup and it is good to go. I don't care for many features and inputs packed in other brand that I don't really need.
Summary: I've had this receiver hooked up to my paradigm monitor 7s for a month now, and I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed. This was an upgrade from an Onkyo TX-sr504. And the Marantz truly puts the sr504 to shame. Sound quality is excellent, very balanced and neutral sound, bass is smooth and where it should be. Listening to dialogue on the tv finally sounds natural and full, I was having a huge issue with my Onkyo and television dialogue.
Summary: I look at most of the reviews here and it seems that few talk about the most important feature in this AUDIO video receiver. This Marantz is what really saved me from more grief as I am an audiophile. Therefore Gui is a second thought to me,which by the way is basic, but by no means hard to work with and does what it's supposed to to unlike a similar Denon at the same pricepoint that I tried to like but returned because of lousy sound and glitchy HDMI handshake at...
Summary: This is my first receiver that I have ever owned, but by far not the first I have ever used or had experience with. I know some people complain about the porthole design, but it is what it is. It is there for a minimalist design and marantz designed the receiver to function mainly through the GUI. I think this receiver is beautiful, clean, and simple looking.
Summary: I purchased the Marantz to replace an old Sony ES receiver. I purchased this receiver to drive My new Martin Logan Source electostats . I also us three Martin Logan Encore tf for my center and surround speakers. All these Martin Logans are 4OHM speakers. The Marantz has no problem at all delivering the goods. The Marantz SR5006 shows no sign what so ever of over heating. And we crank it. Listening to music or cranking up the Home Theater. The set up menu is great.
Summary: This receiver is great. Excellent build quality and sounds great. I don't know why some of the the other reviews are complaining about the on screen menus or the unit getting hot. I haven't had these, or any other problems at all. In fact, I received this from a local electronics dealer as a replacement for a new Anthem MRX-300 that had so many problems I finally gave up on it. I couldn't be any happier with this Marantz.
Summary: This is the nicest receiver I have ever owned. I'll lead with the compliments then add some warnings at the bottom. The sound from this receiver is great and Marantz gave it elegant design, with only two knobs, one row of buttons, and a small "porthole" LCD on the front. It projects a sort of confidence, "I don't need to show off with rows of glowing controls; it's all under the hood.
Summary: I purchased this in Nov 2011 to replace my 4 years old Onkyo 805. For those people that know 805, it weighted 23 kg and has very high power output but with technology moving at such a fast pace, it has no internet connection nor Airplay, so time to upgrade.
