Summary: The sound is warm and reasonably detailed. I'm pleased with the sound, and though it is not as good a separates, it will not disappoint. I'm coming from an Adcom 535 stereo power amp with a high quality passive pre-amp and a discrete DAC.
Summary: I purchased the Marantz to replace an old Sony ES receiver. I purchased this receiver to drive My new Martin Logan Source electostats . I also us three Martin Logan Encore tf for my center and surround speakers. All these Martin Logans are 4OHM speakers.
Summary: The on screen menus are TERRIBLE. Very basic, jaggedy 1980s computer font. The setup screen does NOT look like the one pictured here. It looks like an atari game from the 80s. Vector based graphics, not that picture.
Summary: This receiver is great. Excellent build quality and sounds great. I don't know why some of the the other reviews are complaining about the on screen menus or the unit getting hot. I haven't had these, or any other problems at all.
Summary: Bought this for my cinema surround sound set up. Look real nice, very simple control, plenty of HDMI outputs. The only thing that bother me is it gets really hot just being on stand by, not even turn on. I have to un plug the power cord just to keep it cool.
Good sound quality, poor GUi, really poor iphone app
2 September 2011
Summary: Do not buy if you care about 1-fast user interference (on screen menus are veeeery slow) 2-fast iphone app to control it (just see sonos app if you want to see a good one) 3-using it with a non hdmi tv (cust ser. said you need to get one model up if you want composite support!
Summary: This is the nicest receiver I have ever owned. I'll lead with the compliments then add some warnings at the bottom. The sound from this receiver is great and Marantz gave it elegant design, with only two knobs, one row of buttons, and a small "porthole" LCD on the front.
