Summary: My Polk's were honestly not that expensive, but this unit makes them sound like it! The difference before and after calibration are night and day. I would imagine this would be true of any speakers connected to this. The form factor is amazing.
Summary: The Marantz NR1604 receiver is excellent, incredible surround sound!!! On screen display very user friendly, easy setup and calibration of the surround sound speakers. The only thing Marantz made a mistake with was not adding WI-FI, it has an ethernet port for connecting to the internet.
Summary: This is my first Marantz receiver. I have one Sony DN1050 receiver and I obviously like the NR1604 more. Especially sound quality is amazing. It's pure, powerful and has lot of details. You barely hear the background noise and can not believe it has only 70W for channel.
Summary: Airplay is a gem, but ALAC encoded files delivered via PMS (Playstation Media Sever) do not play. Needed to configure PMS to transcode to ALAC files. I contacted Marantz and they said they don't support any specific DLNA servers and they don't know what the Japanese engineers use to test with.
Summary: For the price it is worth. The sound quality is very clear and details. I can hear the dialog very clear with this AVR. Playing stereo or surround music through this AVR can bring you great sound especially playing Stereo through Multi channel mode. The only setback is the missing of Wi-Fi.

Summary: After buying a new 60" Samsung TV recently, I quickly realized that the lack of HDMI switching on my ancient Sony receiver was going to be a problem, so I sent to Best Buy to a high quality receiver with an emphasis on music over movies, but with plenty of HDMI inputs to simplify mounting my TV to...
Summary: UPDATE 9/12/2013: I have moved this to the master bedroom as I miss being able to connect ALL my A/V equipment as I could on my Yamaha and experience ALL the different sound fields to enhance their use. I also missed the multiple sound fields assignable to my gaming that my Yamaha offered.
