Marantz has hit a home run with the Slim Line home theater systems and I highly recommend this product.

Solarus Hydrolius "Sun Juan", Amazon
3 August 2013
  • Summary: I have been playing with stereo equipment since the early 70's but it has been about 20 years since I purchased a Kenwood system that still works to this day but would not fit into the new home theater cabinet my wife and I recently purchased so I went in search of a low profile system and...

Unreliable Internet Connectivity

S. Smith, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: Attracted by the slim and elegant design and generally good reviews, and online streaming ability, I pulled the trigger on this, my first ever a/v receiver. Unfortunately, it came up short in a number of ways, one of which caused me to return this item to Amazon.

Great AVR

mikeh, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: Bought this model on closeout, the new 1604 adds 4k upscaling and another HDMI, which weren't worth the price increase to me. The amp sounds great, dont let the "50W" power output fool you, it is plenty for my home theater system.

Solid, well built, flexible home theater receiver at an attractive price

EinAK, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: Purchased the NR1603 three years ago to replace an eight year old Onkyo receiver that didn't support HDMI. Set up was plug and play, very easy, took about 90 minutes. It is being used to drive a small Energy 5.1 set of surround speakers with sub-woofer. Perfect for our small TV room.

  • Summary: I use my NR 1603 with Polk tower speakers, rear speakers, center speaker, and subwoofer. I've also got it connected to a router via Cat-5 Ethernet. HDMI inputs include Samsung Smart Blu-ray player, cable box, and a desktop PC. Output via HDMI is to a Samsung Smart TV.

For single room installations this is hard to beat

MGIxian, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: Pros: Love the low profile - after years of giant A/V boxes this is a refreshing change that looks great and more importantly frees up some much needed room in my cabinet. It's also not quite as deep as my old Onkyo. It sounds great.

Excellent Full Featured AV Receiver and 7.1 Amplifier

M Cox, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: I am replacing a three year old Sony STR-DA5400ES which is a comparable product to this Marantz receiver. Both receivers use a microphone to adjust to the room sound dynamics and speaker frequency response. The microphone setup can make an enormous difference in home theater sound quality.

Amazing sound in a room with challenging acoustics

PT Cruiser, Amazon
8 February 2013
  • Summary: This Marantz NR1603 A/V receiver makes movies and music sound better in our great room than I ever thought possible. We have a family room/kitchen/breakfast nook set up that is an acoustical nightmare.
