Wow!

C. Johnston "Musicteacher", Amazon
28 January 2014
  • Summary: I never realized what a difference a higher end receiver could make! It is very low profile and the sound is outstanding! It runs 4 in-wall speakers and a sub-woofer in one room and 4 in-wall speakers upstairs at the same time equally well. There is even a microphone supplied for placement in the prime listening spot so it can adjust independent speaker volume. (Marantz is the same as Denon on the inside).

Excellent receiver

Max Aguilar, Amazon

  • Summary: I am very happy with the receiver, works flawlessly it was worth having chosen Marantz instead Onkyos riddled with defects and complaints. The compact size is more elegant and more pleasing to the eye, although its size is solid and quite heavy, has the connectors needed to connect most important devices, plus audio and video independient for Zone 2 that allow playing the same source simultaneously in both areas or different sources in the main zone and 2.

perfect for average living room

  • Summary: This receiver is a dream-come-true since the moment I unboxed it. I really love the small size of it, it makes cable management SO MUCH easier. It has all of the features that I want - small form factor (great for cable management, and it's light) 4 HDMI inputs HD audio decoding (finally, I don't need PS3 to downsample the HD audio, yay!

Simply an awesome receiver

Amazon Customer, Amazon
4 April 2013
  • Summary: I had four objectives for this receiver: 1) small in size 2) internet capable 3) sufficient HDMI connections 4) highly configurable. In my opinion, this receiver hits a home run across the board. I'll discuss thoughts below. 1) Size: I needed a receiver that could fit into a smaller-than-usual space and yet have "oomph" and high-quality sound. The NR1602 is physically small, but is solid - you'll see that when you pick it up.

Great receiver!

  • Summary: I was a little skeptical due to the small size and low power. But I am over joyed with this receiver. It might only be 50 watts but it is a clean true 50 watts. I am using this for 5.1 surround and 2 channel music in an 11x17 room with 3 openings to the kitchen, dining room, and hallway. Sound quality is fantastic and the feature set is excellent.

F. Key a Audio Enthusiast, Audio Review

  • Summary: I bought this after we moved to Europe as a replacement for a Pioneer AV with pre-outs running to an NAD amp for my fronts back in the US. I have it driving all my speakers currently but plan on buying a Marantz amp soon for the fronts. I have Gallo Nucleaus 3.1s as the main fronts with surrounds and front Divas. I also have a pair of Sonus Faber Concerto's as a second set of fronts used for certain music.

The sound blows my socks off!

Thomas NeSmith, Amazon
23 December 2012
  • Summary: An AV Receiver is about sound first... and other stuff after that. Once the speakers arrived (Mirage Nanosat 5.1 system) and I got it wired up and ran the EQ optimizer... I got my first listen... and was blown away but the openness and space of the sound. Pros: Absolutely fantastic sound. The receiver gets high marks for great looks. (I hate huge receivers). The remote is usable... but could be simpler.

Finally...a near perfect mid-line receiver!

Daniel S. Lee, Amazon
4 December 2012
  • Summary: I've been shopping around for a DTS-MA and Dolby Digital HD receiver for the past two years. After testing Yamaha, Panasonic, Sony and Pioneer, I picked up the Marantz during the Black Friday 2012 "lightning deals" and it was everything I hoped. The HDMI bypass works beautifully, the "mere" 50 watts per channel produces clear and clean (and loud) sound which is better than your so-called 110-watt per channel receivers, and the overall design looks great.

Very Impressive AV Receiver

willece1, Amazon
1 December 2012
  • Summary: I've been traditionally a Yamaha customer when it comes to home theater components. I was looking for something that took less room and had all the latest functions on it, this one definately fit the bill and more. They make it compact hieght wise by stretching it out depth wise. It has every function you could possibly want and even some I didn't expect. The manual is 141 pages long, so it comes on a disk with PDF format. It also has a quick setup guide paper manual.
