Expert Review

18 November 2011
  • Excerpt: Marantz has its own dedicated Network Audio Player in the $1499 NA7004 — we reviewed it in our biannual review-fest, Best Buys Home Theatre , and you can read that full review at AVHub.com.au . But many of the NA7004’s abilities have been included in the latest range of Marantz AV receivers, even this entry-level $999 ‘slimline’ NR1602 . Now AV receivers are generally to be approached with some trepidation.

Marantz NR1602 review

15 October 2011
  • Excerpt: Whether through luck or design, Marantz has created something rather special with the NR1602. Driven by a desire to innovate within the often stultifying constraints of hardcore AV, the company has taken the traditional hefty AVR form factor and chopped it in half. The result is a component with a good deal more va-va-voom than its peers. But there’s more to the NR1602 than downsizing. The brand has also rebalanced feature priorities.
  • Pros: Rich, melodious character; AirPlay and internet radio; good audio file compatibility; slick design
  • Cons: Audyssey AutoEQ not always accurate; not a muscle amp

Marantz NR-1602

30 November 2011
