Summary: After connecting the Pre-Processor into my home theater system, the center channel quit. It is now at an authorized repair facility. Over all, I really think the unit is overpriced. I am disappointed in the unit. The input selector knob seems a little floppy.
Summary: I am using the AV7005 in a two channel setup with an old Adcom power amp, Klipsch Cornwall speakers, using an Apple TV, Dennon univerisal player and Music Hall MMF5SE turntable. I use pure direct for music. I have been impressed with the Marantz. The Marantz unit replaced an Outlaw Audio 990.
Summary: Sonically it is great, 5+ to me, but I experienced network problem, so it get a 3 star. I owned many highend gear, flagship MBL, Ayre, Levinson, Wadia, Weiss 202, PS Audio Perfect Wave ii dac, particularly likes the sound of tube amps, when swapped this prepro from my current PS Audio perfect wave...
Summary: I must say this is the best preamp I’ve ever owned, I had a B&K 30, Sunfire TGP v3 preamp sold them both to get this one. Now in my opinion the B&K sounded the best but lacked the features, HDMI, DTS-HD ect… no phono input.
Summary: When my B&K Series 50 S2 was unable to do HDMI from my new Blu Ray player it was time for a change. Sounds better then the B&K. The Audyessy 8 position setup did well. Despite not being able to set the slope of the cutoff frequency my DD-18 from Preamp it integration of the Sub was fine.
Summary: I have owned this pre/pro now for one year. In this past twelve months I have never had a hum issue, no channels have dropped out, I have no DAC issues, and yes it was made in Japan and not China.
Summary: Purchased the AV7005 to replace a dated, but outstanding B&K Ref 30 pre/pro. The flexibility in set-up, HDMI, networking capabilities + myriad of audio + movie modes is amazing. Music sound quality is really good + hearing things the B+K wasn't capable of in movies.
Summary: First time I run into an issue with Marantz, and what a disappointment! AV7005, four months old, suddenly one of the surround channels is dead. Marantz' support number throws me in an infinite loop by returning me to the main phone menu instead of connecting me to an agent.
Summary: I own a B&K Reference 50 S2 processor and Reference 125.7 7 channel amp (a matched set) connected with balanced XLR cables. My processor did not have HDMI switching and no decoding for True HD or Master Audio and I decided it was time to rectify that.
Summary: I bought the Marantz after many months of research and reading lots of very good reviews. The Marantz replaces a $6K Lexicon unit which had lots of Bells and whistles but no HDMI. I wanted good sound, easy set up, at a reasonable price.
