Summary: I have always been a fan of Harmon Kardon receivers. The high current output stage means very high transient response and dampening factor, basically cone control. Loud sudden signals from soft volumes sound clean and punchy (transient response) and sudden silence is just that, silent (dampening factor). The design is clean and simple with 1 goal in mind, sound quality.
Summary: I have have my AVR-146 since release and have never had a problem Ever. The Surround is Great and with my 5 Bose 301's from 1994 and Yamaha Sub you feel like your in the throatier. Some complain about HDMI but it is clearly marked in the manual that is does not decode the sound so I never used it. Just Optical out of the TV to the AVR. Some con's is its 3W rms per channel so its not a power house. But it does work great.
Had one for 4 years. Good product that has HDMI issues

Summary: Love my receiver, I have never had any complaints about it as I read the HDMI issue of not being able to play audio through the jack. I just skipped over the HDMI and went straight for the other stuff. I have 4 things hooked through it and it works fine. Sound is great and all in all this is a good receiver. I could recommend it to someone that is just getting into a home theater with no problems. Follow the instructions and you will be rocking the house soon enough.
Summary: What a great little system; I am just putting together my first home theatre, and this receiver is just perfect; plenty of ways to input, and all very user friendly. I must say that I love the style of the unit. I bought it for the price and the appearance and am pleased with both.
Summary: Do not buy if you plan to use any HDMI sources with this product. It does not decode audio that comes through HDMI cables, completely negating one of the big selling points of HDMI (one cable that does everything). Otherwise I have been generally happy with this product but I will not buy another Harman Kardon product in the future because of this design.
Looks cool, built well, good power, basic sound quality.

Summary: This receiver fits for movies simple music, simple rock and simple pop. Looks cool, has tons of features, enough power, but the power is not equal to sound quality. I've expected more. But if you are ladygagalistener- this receiver fits 100%.
Summary: WOW this was my first experience with e-buying, extremely cool experience from the rush I felt bidding against 2 other bidders and the photo finish win is hard to explain ....wow!!! high end quality equipment my newly beloved Harmon kardon...dont' know how I survived without it. small on the power but dont be fooled this sweetheart is like the love of your life sturdy and beautiful.
Summary: Nice receiver for those on a budget looking for older/used receiver. Supports newer functions (DTS NEO 6, Dolby Digital EX) yet generally is sold pretty cheap because it is a few years old. I would say the sound quality is a bit better than my Onkyo TX-SR500, which is also an entry level model (older though). I would bet that this model compares favorably to any of the Onkyo TX-SR50_ models. Don't be fooled by low wattage numbers.
