Summary: I've owned this for about 7 years. I also own (for comparison) a Sony STR-DH130; Onkyo HT-R530; Onkyo TX-NR515. They are all comparable when it comes to price (about $300 for each when new), except the Sony which is only a stereo receiver.
Summary: I have always been a fan of Harmon Kardon receivers. The high current output stage means very high transient response and dampening factor, basically cone control. Loud sudden signals from soft volumes sound clean and punchy (transient response) and sudden silence is just that, silent (dampening...
Summary: I have have my AVR-146 since release and have never had a problem Ever. The Surround is Great and with my 5 Bose 301's from 1994 and Yamaha Sub you feel like your in the throatier. Some complain about HDMI but it is clearly marked in the manual that is does not decode the sound so I never used it.
Had one for 4 years. Good product that has HDMI issues

Summary: Love my receiver, I have never had any complaints about it as I read the HDMI issue of not being able to play audio through the jack. I just skipped over the HDMI and went straight for the other stuff. I have 4 things hooked through it and it works fine.
Summary: Do not buy if you plan to use any HDMI sources with this product. It does not decode audio that comes through HDMI cables, completely negating one of the big selling points of HDMI (one cable that does everything).
Summary: Had to put it outside right after I turned it on today. (So it didn't cause a fire.) Had it for 2 years and now the house smells like melted electronics. The surround sound never did save that often. (It would forget and switch on different settings).
Summary: Last night my AVR-146 did not stay on, gave a faint odor of smell, and a bit of a crackling sound; given the fact, that all components are solid state; repair would cost more then replacement; my questions folow Is the AVR-154 still made? If so is it stronger than the AVR-146?
Summary: When the receiver worked, I really enjoyed the way it sounded. However, after about 1 year it died. Turned it on one day, smelled burning plastic and heard some crackling noises, and then it went out - never to come back to life.
Summary: Excellent product fantastic sound, try watching a blu ray movie on it, you'll forget cinemas fast and always wait for the release. I've got mine hooked up to Factory Bose AM10's both cost under a grand, i'm loving it! Who said not enough inputs are you kidding?
