AVR 245 7.1 channel Receiver has crystal clear audio
7 September 2010
Summary: I was initially going to bid on a 247 but to my dismay, someone out there in the ether kept bidding into the "New Price" level. I happened to see this AVR 245 and without double checking I bid at the last second and won. I was not ready to be impressed by this receiver. I knew this unit would not process HDMI actively but I was disappointed to find out a couple of things; There is no "by-pass" when the power is off.
Summary: good things: sound quality is very good, amp exterior, connections bad things: I never feel the fan working, the sound cuts some times when the movie change to next title, needs more power for the center speaker
Summary: I love this A/V amp. I agonize over purchases like this. I shopped online and compared A/V receivers for weeks before finally buying the HK. Bought it here on Amazon on a Sunday,it was shipped for free, and arrived at my doorstep on the following Tuesday! Paid at least $150 less than Fry's or Vanns's sale prices. Beautiful aesthetics. Love the silver and black faceplate and the blue LCD display.
Summary: This is an amazing piece of equipment with so many different capabilities. However, the remote is very confusing. And, with so many channels, finding the right one can be a challenge. Great performance!
Summary: I bought a hk 245, from a dealer that is in amanzon, Etronics they advertice a price of $313 us but really the invoce was $430 us. the delivery was ok , it took about 5 days. afer pay customs and delvery the final price was $730 ca, i would buy here from Future shop for 800 plus tax, so relly it was not a GREAT deal. the reciever work well, easy to set up. no concert for now.
Summary: I have the AVR-245 paired with a set of Athena Micra 5.1's and the sound is very good for a beginner HT setup. Dual HDMI switching, clear sound, tons of supported surround modes and inputs - this thing is a great value. If you have an Ipod and love to listen to music in your HT room, get the Bridge. That thing works very well with my Ipod Nano.
Summary: I bought a Harman Kardon AVR 230 a couple of years back and recently decided to ugprade to the AVR 245. Amazon has an amazing price for this unit so I purchased one. Within a couple of days it made a clicking sound and audio disappeared. Turning it off and on again got audio back but I've lost all access to the On Screen Display (OSD), even on S-VIDEO connection. This is critical to getting it setup properly...
