Summary: Fantastic sound, but takes a degree in electrical engineering to figure out how to route the sound to the different ports. Very poor manual. App for iOS is nearly useless too, and since I bought this in an attempt to make our system more accessible for my wife (using an app which should be easy right?) it actually made things worse. My other complaint is that I was lead to believe the receiver would be able to play stereo into two different pairs of speakers.
Summary: This is the first Harman Kardon receiver I've ever owned. HK was always a special brand known for its impeccable design and outstanding sound. Now that I have one, all i can say is, "meah". At $249 this is an entry level product and it works for the reason I bought it. I'm just using it for music via Airplay -- both of which perform without problem. It's missing a host of features I didn't realize were premium until I powered up this unit.
The HDMI ARC worked intermittently with the TV & HK customer service is terrible

Summary: I've had a very bad experience with the HK customer service in regard to some speakers that I bought to go along with this receiver as part of my home theater system. Although I could originally live with the intermittent HDMI ARC performance: the receiver would contiguously switch from one audio setting to another for no apparent reason pausing the sound while doing that. I figured I just manually set the sound quality and everything is fine.
Summary: One shouldn't be expecting a state-of-the-art receiver, with very high fidelity, plenty of flexibility and latest decoders/encoders implemented when purchasing a USD300 receiver. This is a cheap device but very able to perform a good work for 80-90% of the people who want to watch some movies with 5.1channels and listening to music with friends. It does present very good interconnection aspects such as Airplay and also 6 (yes, 6!
Summary: I got this from Best Buy for $199 plus tax. The sound quality is better than that of my old Yamaha HTR-6030. However, this unit was defective. It had the following issues. 1. The receiver could easily go to a status with the display "BSO UPDATING PLEASE WAIT" and at that status, the receiver stopped working. The only way to make it alive again was to turn off the receiver, pull out the AC power cable, connect the AC power cable again and turn it on again. 2.
