Not what I expected

  • Summary: My son recommended the AVR 1700 as he has had several Harman Kardon amps. We got this one because it had airplay. After receiving the AVR we realized that the airplay feature is only enabled when the AVR is connected to the router. So, I went out and bought a netgear wi-fi to ethernet adapter as I could not run a CAT cable to the AVR. Why build an airplay product that does not connect wirelessly?

  • Summary: Not working out of the box ,The picture would cut in and out, I called the tech support number that I found on the web, none found in the documentation, and got someone in India who clearly doesn't hear in English, she asked the same question 15 times,what is wrong with it.

Where did the voices go?

  • Summary: Unit looks great but functions poorly. Did not automatically switch surround modes when you change channels which left you with little to no voices coming out of the center channel without manually switching with the remote. Amazons return policy is amazing and took it back no questions asked.

  • Summary: Worked well with my Polk speakers, was able to handle the plethora of inputs I required just fine. Sound quality was good and provided ample power to my floorstanding speakers. However, the receiver simple stopped functioning under normal load. I live in an apartment building, I do not have the luxury of playing my music loudly. Under normal levels it just stopped outputting sound to all channels.

Doesn't Work After 1 month - Worst Customer Service

  • Summary: The unit worked well for the first month and managed my Klipsch speakers respectfully. But the unit turned off after one month while watching a movie and now the unit doesn't send a signal to my tv. I will also say that Harman Kardon has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The technical support staff are rude and abrupt with their communication. I asked the tech rep what his name was and he responded, "C'mon man just respond to my email!", I was shocked.
