Summary: I was shocked to learn that this receiver doesn't support audio through HDMI. You will have to run a separate cable to transfer audio. Why run multiple cables when you should be able to get the job done with one? I would recommend buying something else.
It's a Harmon and at this ridiculous low price, more than a great value.

Summary: Read the directions carefully and you too will have an outstanding product as usual from Harmon. This is ideal for my condo. I've read reviews about HDMI concerns. No worries. Optical digital is just as fine to use. Yeas it is an older model, but what I paid for this was amazing. Again, read directions, follow them and enjoy!
Summary: i just bought this recever let me say dam. it makes everthing i listen to sound great.as well as movies. im using new sony speakers with this model.and a subwoofer (sony. ilike that it has several optical inputs and coax inputs. i have a harmon kardon cd recorder conected to it a mini disc recorder.ipod 160. philips 40 inch.blue ray player. Summary: I have never suffered as much from a piece of equipment as from this, whether it be a car, a cell phone, a boat, a computer ... you get the picture. If I could give this thing a zero rating I would. By way of background, I'm not a complete dummy. I graduated from an Ivy League university. I have a masters degree in business with high academic honors. And I graduated magna cum laude from law school. None of that helped me with this receiver.
Summary: This unit is terribly underpowered and you cant access all the functions without a remote. Without a remote which we didn't get one with this purchase, then it is basically worthless. We didn't know that when we bought it.
Summary: This is a nice unit however there is not enough published information to completely describe it's functions and capabilities. It is published that it is iPod ready and one would assume that it would utilize the H-K bridge unit for the iPod. Ordered both and had to return both because the bridge would not work with this unit.
Summary: Going in I knew this wasn't the high-end Harman/Kardon receiver. However, I figured that since it had an HDMI-out and three HDMI-in jacks, it would be good enough for what I needed. While I do like the customization options regarding video and audio inputs, I was shocked beyond belief to know that this receiver does not support audio through HDMI. I found this out when trying to configure the video/audio inputs. I even called tech support to verify.
Summary: Coupled this with HKT18 and it really sounds very good. The next version 254 is $[...]. I got this for $[...] from Amazon. Really worth it for the price. Dont worry about the HDMI switching. Not that useful at all. I have my PS3 pointing to my LCD for video and HK for sound. Very satisfied.
Summary: this is an awesome product. when they say high power 30 watts per channel, they aren't kidding around, it is easily more than twice as loud as my old rca 100 watt per channel system, and hooked up with some polk audio speakers, there is no comparison in sound quality. the hdmi is purely a pass through, meaning video and sound just go strait through, if you want the sound to go through the 5.1 system, you will have to get it through optical cable or rca type digital...
