Summary: I was replacing an old Denon of mine (AVR3310) and saw this one. I was able to matrix me directv boxes to 2 rooms. it was perfect for my set up and easy to install. These new Denons are really nice compared to the older ones.
Excerpt: This is my 3rd Denon receiver, but I want to qualify none of them have been replaced due to a failing product, in fact it's the exact opposite. 2 of the 3 are still in use and sound as good as ever. As for the AVR-X3000, I bought it to replace my AVR-4806, since it didn't have the necessary outputs for my current home theater. Unfortunately it's not an apples to apples comparison, but I wasn't able to purchase a reference level receiver right now.
Summary: I replaced an Onkyo (3008) that failed, and decided to try a different brand. I'm very happy with the audio. It fills a dedicated media room no problem (7.1 setup), and is crystal clear. Easy set up with the Audyssey. It's not quite as configurable as the Onkyo, as that one allowed very granular control. However, without having to do much tweaking it sounds pretty much the same. I can't tell the difference.
Fabulous. Great to get a "used" model from Electronics Expo

Summary: I ordered a "like new" model from Electronics Expo. It arrived in perfect, unused condition (open box, but the wrap around the receiver was unopened). This is a lovely receiver - I'm controlling it via roomieremote from my iPad, and the IP control works wonderfully. Having 2 zones available for HDMI is great, too. I have 2 TVs hooked up to this, and I can watch any HDMI source on either TV (two different simultaneous sources work perfectly).
Summary: Small room my monitor audios are cranked to 8 to get volume- I know Monitor audios are inefficient and so so -my reference music system is a rogue audio with revel speakers in living room , but for avr this lacking. Mainly too few inputs the analogue inputs do not show p on the screen so few inputs I am lacking inputs hooked p airplay no input for sonos, no input for Nakamichi cassette no phono input and while sound is so so it is always too bass heavy- as well no matter...
Almost 3 stars... new features and missing old ones...

Summary: The give me new stuff I like. But DENON, WHY did you take away the things I need? There is no way to interact with the device for many functions without the remote... or the new smartphone features, not sure how limited that may be for setup and configuration though. The switched AC outlet on the back is gone, WTF I need that for many things... It better come back or I will consider other options next time (sooner than you think).
Summary: I bought this AVR to replace a Sony ES555. The setup was a breeze and it was up and running in less than 30 minutes. I'm running Definitive Front towers with dual 15" powered subs, Center and Rear surrounds. The power output rocks the Definitives and has great sound equalization after tuning with the Audyssey system. Definitely would recommend this unit!
