First of all great service from Amazon and the vendor
2 weeks ago
Summary: First of all great service from Amazon and the vendor. Receiver was easy to hook up and calibrate.sound is absolutely incredible no lie. no need for Wi-Fi because it plays music through my AppleTV easy breezy. Major part that I didn't realize was that now the receiver handles all the input switching.this makes switching from one device to another incredibly fast and simple. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a new receiver.
Summary: The automatic setup is easy. The only difficulty is that, if you hook it up 5.1, you have to attach the rear speakers to the surround outputs instead of to the rear speaker outputs. The Internet radio feature is fantastic!. It works well with the android app so that you can play with the internet station feature without turning on the tv set.
Summary: Good value for the features but with one problem: OVERHEATING regularly This is a 7.1 AV Receiver with all the major functions, great buy. Only problem I encounter is the over heating. I put the av receiver in a shelf in the corner of home theater without much air circulation. and the shelf is about 12" in height with glass. After 10 mins of use - watch movie / testing sound, the av receiver shut off automatically and the red light is blinking.

Summary: Really a great addition and replacement for my Yamaha for home theatre. The OSD for speaker setup and calibration of surround sound was so easy my wife could have completed it. I use the second zone for the speakers on my back patio with plenty of amp. The app for the Andrioid and iPhone really make it complete for a remote control on the wifi. The only problem I keep having is that when using Pandora it will just suddenly stop playing.
Don't use SiriusXM app, unless you want to be totally frustrated.

Summary: As a receiver, I love this device. The sound is great, easy enough to setup and picture quality doesn't seem compromised. However... I hate the SiriusXM app. It's awful. I can't tell you how many times I've been listening and all of a sudden the thing starts changing channels on me. I've also received "Disconnected" messages so many times, I cant keep up with it. Contacted support and no help at all.
Super sleek and advanced receiver with many cool features.

Summary: Super sleek and advanced receiver with many cool features. Menu is intuitive and setup is easy. Once the unit is connected to your network you can take advantage of its full potential. I did not opt to use the HDMI switching capabilities (only the pass through) because I prefer to have more independent control over my components. For the price this unit proves to be a good option for A/V control.
If It Were Really 185 Watts, You'd Be Paying a Whole Lot More
24 August 2014
Summary: 90 watts of continuous power. 185 watts is the peak power or dynamic headroom that comes into play when watching action films. You can verify the info on Denon wbsite. Type in the model number, look at the owner's manual, You'll have to scroll way down to specifications. Check the ohms rating of your speakers. Are they 8 or 6? I use it mostly for music and it sounds great. Yeah, they advertise 185 watt for the wow factor and it grabs your attention.
Summary: My previous AV Receiver, a Denon AVR-1911, got taken out by a lightning strike so I'm in the market for a replacement. I tried the AVR-E400 based on specs, features and prices (not purchased here - sorry Amazon). Hooked it up and was very pleased with the features and performance once I adapted to the new, simplified remote and menu system. That was until I tried to tune my favorite AM station. Sadly, the AM tuner section is horrible.
