Summary: I owned receiver/amplifier of every generation, all these rec/amp can be divided in to two generation: traditional and the networked. I am very glad about the Denon 991, especially the network functions. The built in AirPlay, network tuner like Pendora, and the building web server give an experience completely different and exciting. The amplifier of this piece is a typical denon design, it delivers wonderful sound, clean and warm.

Summary: Wow, I am floored in just how lousy a $900 receiver can be released to the public. I won't beat around the bush, the most important thing to me is sound quality to support my Martin logan Electro static speaker setup. This avr failed me in all but one way.The internet comedy channel as quality really doesn't matter much on that.I tried the pure, direct modes, every dsp mode that it has. Why does Denon make it such a pain to go through certain surround modes?
Summary: This is one terrific receiver/amplifier. It completely lives up to the reviews written by other buyers. I didn't think AIrplay would be a big deal but it is one of my most favorite features. Another big bonus is the free Denon iPhone application. You can turn your receiver on/off, control volume, channels, stream music and stream internet radio all with your phone. This is great for me since I have a bigger home and I don't always have line of sight to the receiver.
Summary: I have been a dedicated Marantz user for many moons. Bought the first Dolby Digital receiver they offered. Upgraded to the 800 years later and had no problems with that one. Loved the sound quality. There is something about those Marantz units' sound that is just...right. But when HDMI came along, Marantz started to go off the rails. Upgraded to a SR8001 and was blown away by the sound. Marantz all the way...but even more so.
Summary: I HAVE TO SAY THAT IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THIS RECIEVER AS A POSSIBITY LOOK NO FURTHER THIS AVR WAS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED I HAVE A PS3, PS2,AND A WII ALL HOOKED UP TO THIS WITH NO PROBLEM OUTSTANDING SOUND AND PICTURE QUALITY, I WAS GOING TO PURCHASE THIS FROM AMAZON BUT THE PRICE KEPT GOING UP DOWN EVERY FEW DAYS FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF WHILE I WAS RESEARCHING AND COMPARING TO OTHER MODELS, SO WHEN I FINALLY GOT READY TO MAKE THE PURCHASE IT WAS TO $799, I WENT ON...
Summary: The casing is not only functional but has aesthetic value as well. The directions are adequate but patients is required. The sound quality meets the specs my ears demanded. The ability to adjust the speaker configurations is exceptional. All separate components hooked up easily. This product meets the specs Denon advertised. This device pulled all of my separate components into a single audio/visual producing machine.I would recommend it highly.
Summary: I recently purchase a Denon AVR-991 Receiver to replace my broken Yamaha receiver. The Denon was easy to set up and connect to my surround sound spreakers. The setup menu is available on the TV monitor and very easy to use. The receiver is a 2 zone system and provides excellent sound qualtiy to both zones. An excellent receiver for the price.
Summary: This reasonably price AVR was bought to power a new Def Tech surround speaker system connected to a new 60 inch Sony TV. All are black so look really good and the system provides great sound. I found the AVR set up instructions easy to follow and the results are splendid sound at a very reasonably price. The Denon line of AVRs should be seriously considered by anyone looking for very good performance at a reasonable price.
Summary: This is by far the best sounding Home Theater reciever I have had yet(Yamaha and Sony prior also had a Onkyo but HDMI would not work(returned)). The depth and richness is very impressive. I would have given it a 5 star but after 3 months the HDMI board went out. Denon fixed it under warranty but I had to pay to ship it to a servicing dealer. Took about 2 to 3 weeks to get back(bummer) but it has worked perfect since just hope it was a fluke.
Summary: This is by far the best AVR receiver I have ever owned. At home we have an Onkyo 608 and a Denon 1911. I purchased the AVR 991 for my office because I love the natural sound quality of the Denon. I stepped up to the 125 watt because I find myself wanting more power than the 1911's 95 watts. I primarily stream Pandora and watch cable occasionally. The Audyssey feature is easy to use.
