Summary: I purchased this receiver in Jan 2009 at what I thought was a great price for $550. I hoped for longevity & dependability in this brand. By now in Aug 2012, it had received plenty of daily use and it started "acting up" with less-than-perfect video quality this year.
Summary: I have had this amp for over 2 years, and found that, with a little time in finding the right match of speakers (which saves a lot of money) this amp performs so well, that my experience in watching movies in my theater, is BETTER than the local theaters! No Kidding!
Summary: I love this receiver. Unfortunately, my last Denon died. I loved the sound quality so I got this. You can watch TV or a DVD in the Living room and Listen to music or TV or what ever out side with the second zone.
Summary: I have had this reciever for 6 months and watched 14 movies with it and the HDMI output has stopped working. Consider Denon's warranty when purchasing this product. When the reciever goes bad, the consumer is responsible for shipping cost to one of 6 service centers in the country.
Summary: Nice power, good channel seperation, great sound. If you have a lot of devices going to this device that use optical or HDMI you may run out of inputs. When using the reciever to switch HDMI video, the picture seems too saturated or altered or something.
Summary: I have replaced this for my Yahama, and it is far superior. The sound is awsome. Have it hooked to Infinity front and rear and rear center, and Yahama front center speaker. See no need to add any more. I am very satisfied with my purchase. The only problem is the remote and the instructions.
Summary: In the past I've had SONY and Yamaha receivers but, I am now a Denon person. This is the best piece of electronic equipment I've ever had by far. The sound quality and splitting ability is just incredible. Spend the extra money - it's worth it by any standard!
Summary: The good: I love Denon products because of its high quality sounds. I bought the Denon AVR-988 to replace my Denon AVR-2800. Setting up was a breeze for me, but I can see how it can be confusing if you're a novice.
Summary: After reading the reviews on the Denon AVR-988, I was compelled to add this unit to my choice of new AV components. Now that I have it installed and completely setup with great speakers (Klipsch Quintet SL), sub woofer (Polk Audio DSW microPro 1000), LCD television (Mitsubishi Diamond Series...
