Worked OK

N. Pearson, Amazon
18 July 2013
  • Summary: Had plenty of power before it toasted itself, only reason I gave it 2 stars. The menu and setup is terrible. The screen is hard to read and it makes no sense at all trying to get it to do what you want it to do. This is my second Denon and pretty sure I wont get another one.

Look elsewhere

Mike, Amazon
22 February 2013
  • Summary: I thought this would be a nice upgrade. I wanted HDMI interfaces so i could get the best picture quality and sound from my Bluray player. It was easy to hook this up and it does everything it claims to.

Remarkably complicated

Rich in BCS, Amazon
1 April 2012
  • Summary: If you're looking for a receiver that is unreasonably complicated, this is the unit for you. I wanted to use this receiver to run 2 sets of speakers, not a surround sound system. The instructions are impossible to understand.

Poor local controls

mustangsally, Amazon
12 December 2011
  • Summary: While the audio quality on this unit is pretty good I give it low marks for the local controls that they designed into it. There is no ability to tune into radio stations while at the unit itself so you cannot just walk up to it and turn it on and switch stations.

Denon 791 - best bang for my buck

average joe, Amazon
5 October 2011
  • Summary: I'm no tech geek and don't spend all day on AVS forum reading up on crap that I won't understand or care to know. That said, when I decided to purchase something like this, I do my homework. My budget was flexible, up to $400 but really aiming around $300 or less.

Great amp for the price.

Jason, Amazon
24 August 2011
  • Summary: details on this amp is very close to correct. how ever the power out put is not 90 watts as it says. i do own this amp so i know what im saying. this amp dose 85 watts x7 @ 8 ohm=595 watts or 125 watts x7 @ 6 ohms=875 watts this is a pretty big deal sense most speakers sold are not in 6 ohm.

Read the manual; it's worth it!

S. Chrysostom, Amazon
12 June 2011
  • Summary: A little complex to set up, but you just do that once, and the manual is very clear on how to do it (includes sections for basic, advanced and way advanced user). Well worth the cost and the time.

Horrible experience!

Marsha, Amazon
9 June 2011
  • Summary: When the receiver worked, it was great, unfortunately that didn't last long. It started having multiple problems at about the 6 month point. We sent it back for "repair" after going over everything with the people at Denon's customer service. We just got it back saying nothing was wrong..
