Summary: I bought it because it was cheap with a minor problem so far it seems to work good. The only downside is sometimes it switches to headphone mode and shuts off the speakers other then that it pushes my Cerwin vega DX-9's and my Cerwin Vega Subwoofer nicely also from what I have tested on full surround sound with the Cerwin vegas and the MTS surround speakers it seems to be a great sound for movies. I can say for this is better then sony by far power wise.
Denon AVR 790 7.1 channel Receiver for home theater use
6 July 2010
Summary: The Denon AVR 790 7.1 ties together my PC-home theater so that I get the maximum enjoyment out of it. I decided to buy off Ebay because of the immense savings and value. I would recommend this unit to anyone who loves surround sound, and has a home theater.
Summary: This receiver is awesome! The sound quality is crystal clear, and the on screen display makes adjustments a breeze. I run a media center computer into this receiver and it works great. The built in video processor up scales my standard definition movies into 720p or 1080p hi definition. The audio processor can restore my audio files from the compressed wma format that I use, to make the sound quality superb.
Summary: I was researching a quality A/V receiver for a couple of months before I decided to go with the Denon AVR 790. I knew I was getting a quality product from Denon right off the bat. When I came across it on overstock and it being almost $200 less than anywhere else online, I jumped on it. It was shipped within a couple days of course, and the packaging was perfect.
Summary: I had a Kenwood VR3090 and loved it! Only downfall was no HDMI and I wanted to start upgrading by TV, Receiver and Blue Ray and use the one cable system with HDMI support.I am one of those guys that has to know every last detail about an item then once I find the make and model I want I hunt down the best overall price. You can rest assure that the Denon line of receivers are top notch.
Summary: Great receiver, does everything I need it to and then some. Audio is clear and the video comes to life with this surround sound receiver. The only complaint I have is that switching to zone two can sometimes be difficult, (the procedure). Great price, $130.00 less than Best Buy. Very happy overall.
Summary: I just setup my new Hi-Def video/audio system in my family room which is only 14' by 14', so I didn't need/want anything that will blow the roof off type audio power to my set of Mirage 5.1 Nanostat speakers. Having that said, surround sound comes through thunderously clear. I put on "David Foster and Friends" and the experience was as if I were in the audience. My Denon AVR790 was easy to setup and use.
Summary: I bought this to replace an aging stereo receiver and to use with a home built Home theater PC. The main reason I chose this brand was because a close friend is a surround sound installer and he highly recommended Denon. He told me not only was he impressed with the sound, features and performance, he had never seen a customer that was not happy with their Denon system. The only warning he gave me was that most people have a hard time with the manual.
