Summary: I bought this receiver about 3 1/2 years ago. Audio stopped working. I tried trouble shooting several things with no success. After researching online, I found this was not an uncommon issue. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk.
Summary: I bought this receiver used on Amazon a couple of months ago. It worked great, sounded great and I was more than pleased. After three weeks the HDMI board malfunctioned (confirmed by a local Denon-authorized service center). Replacing the HDMI board costs more that I paid for the receiver so it's now scrap metal. Maybe I shouldn't expect a receiver to last more than three years but I'm still running my Sony 5.1 receiver (pre-HDMI) after 10 years.
Summary: I don't think I will feel the need to upgrade for several years now with this reciever. I got it used off craigslist for $125. It is basically in mint condition, looks like the guy I bought it from took good care of it. I read other reviews and people were saying that it was hard to navigate through the menus (this was actually why the guy I got it from was selling it, his wife said it was too hard to use).
Summary: SO far this receiver has panned out great, it was easy to install, easy to program got it up and working with in minutes. The Mic is an excellent feature to help set up the sound in a room. Set this receiver up with a Sony F6000 system and for my 15 X 15 room, it is more sound than needed..but it sounds perfect for me...overall for someone not looking to spend a lot of money and still get a great product, the DENON AVR-590 is a must buy.
Summary: I have had one of these for about 3 years and it has been reasonably good except for a few quirks. The setup and user interface is atrocious as is frequently cited in reviews. When I switch between video sources there is about a 50-50 chance that it will not synch up somehow and I get a solid green screen until I power-cycle the Denon. Sound quality and overall functionality is good.
Awesome AVR, but make sure to upgrade to the newer 591 first!

Summary: Received my Denon receiver from Firemall, via Amazon in extremely timely fashion. I was extremely happy with customer service I received at "Firemall LLC". One cautionary note however. If you are tempted to buy the Denon AVR 590 take a look at the newer model Denon AVR 591. For a little more money you get a lot of updates, including 120W per channel! The 591 is an awesome receiver. Thanks Firemall!
Summary: I switched AV components after a recent purchase of a new plasma. I wanted everything integrated through HDMI. With this Denon receiver I was able to achieve this with ease. Nice features, easy to set up, excellent sound quality. This receiver is highly recommended and at a great price through Amazon.
Phenomenal product, but you may need help. IMPORTANT UPDATE
1 December 2010
Summary: This is a truly outstanding A/V and pure-music receiver, chosen by me after copious research and critical reviews of reports about many comparable products. The AVR590 does more for my sonic entertainment than I could ever have dreamed, a real mind-blower that replaces a very capable Teac 5.1 Dolby/DTS receiver that became buggy after many years of service. The one thing I'd fault Denon for is the occasional impenetrability of the verbiage in its owner's manual.
Summary: Combining Denon's high performance AVR-590 A/V receiver with Boston Acoustics' MCS 90 5.1 speaker system, the DHT-590BA home theater system features carefully matched components to provide thrilling surround sound for music and movies. HDMI cables makes this a breeze to set up. yes one must look at the owners manual once or twice but other then that no tech support needed, feels like i am in the newest movie theaters with hi-tech equipment when watching a blu-ray and...
Summary: After spending weeks of researching A/V receivers, I chose the AVR-590 to replace my old, non-HDMI Sony receiver. I had a 5.1 setup and didn't need anything fancy, but I didn't want something mediocre either. On paper, this model had all the features I needed (HDMI switching and automatic speaker setup) for a very reasonable price. This is my first Denon receiver, and I have been using for over a month.
