This isn't your daddy's am/fm radio . . .

Shek5150, Amazon
5 October 2012
  • Summary: I very recently purchased this AVR & my previous receiver (Yamaha RX-V2095) was considerably less complicated than this creature . . . so, I'm still familiarizing myself with all it's features.

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
19 February 2012
  • Summary: It may be a year old model, but I don't see it missing anything. The onscreen menu is not crude, it's just no-frills and simple is best. BTW, for the savings from Newegg, I'll live without a warranty. After all, it will expire before I will ever consider parting with it.
  • Pros: This receiver has a web page that you can access from any computer on the network and control just about everything in it. It's capable of letting you play SACD's through it's HDMI port in native DSD without having the TV turned on. Has on-screen programming for the remote settings to control you...
  • Cons: Two remotes? The multi-channel inputs should be color-coded, as should be the speaker terminals. The ground terminal and the phono inputs are spread too far apart.

4311

Dustin S., Newegg
22 November 2011
  • Summary: Previous reviewer hit it right on the head. The 4311 is simply one of the best AVRs on the market. I am currently running 9.1 (FH and rears. not wides) and am loving it!!! My usage is 50/40/10 TV+movies/music/gaming.
  • Pros: Ability to customize up to 9.2 native channels (11.2 if running a pre-out) Audyssey MultEQ XT32 gives room correction capability with an included mic and fairly intuitive setup feature (more on this later). More audio pre-set modes than I know what to do with. Very strong connectivity with DNLP a...
  • Cons: May be overkill to the general enthusiast. By this I mean that unless you are specifically wanting to run 9 channels or more, 7+2 or 5+2+2 you are probably barking up the wrong tree. It also exposes weaknesses in speakers and/or requires higher than average setup knowledge. Once Audyssey XT has b...

An Amazingly Good AVR

Anonymous, Newegg
19 November 2011
  • Summary: Can do 11.2 channels -- but you need at least two channels of additional external amplification. This is a great AVR that can transistion to a pure preprocessor (no amplification enabled) if you decide to add external power amps -- like Emotiva XPA-2 + XPA-5 amps.
  • Pros: Supports 9.2 out of the box with excellent total wattage output from 9 amps. Has a great on-screen UI. Has almost every Dolby + DTS mode. Can do Audyssey DSX full surround sound from any audio input. Can output Fronts, Center, Surrounds, Rear Surrounds, Front Wides, Front Highs. Has support for N...
  • Cons: The only mode it doesnt currently do is the new DTX: Neo X surround processing. So far it's not been a problem. Some early reports last year about firmware issues -- I can find ZERO such problems. I discovered that although this AVR is touted to drive 4 Ohm loads, they dont provide any power or T...

POWERFUL SOUND

pujones1, Amazon
13 July 2011
  • Summary: This AVR is truly wonderful. It pumps out a lot of sound is network connected. The video processing is done by Anchor Bay Technologies and is superb. I have it mated to Klipsch THX certified 7800's, 7502, and a 120 subwoofer. It does the job!

  • Summary: This "chock-full-of-features" receiver has been more than adequately commented on by the other reviewers, but I am going to address one of the features that particularly interested me. I am a retired, professional musician, and sound is very important to me.

Excellent Replacement for a Rotel

smartas, Amazon
13 July 2011
  • Summary: The Denon replaced a Rotel RSX-1067. I was a bit cautious in this decision as I have been fairly loyal to the Rotel brand. However, given the features, capabilities and, power of the Denon I decided to tryout the AVR.
