Summary: Buying a receiver in this price range is all about affordability and features which together define value. This receiver delivers in that department. Typically available for less than $125 this AVR ticks nearly all the feature boxes. It has 4 HDMI inputs, Dolby True HD & DTS Master HD sound capability with other 5.1 decoding options. The audio quality is very good and the design is clean and attractive.
Summary: Before I learned about wireless hi-fi speakers & streaming music, this was a great little stereo component. Like most people, I ran all my TV/stereo components thru it and it worked very well. After 4 or 5 years of good usage, it's in a box in my garage because I discovered Sonos wireless hi-fi speakers! It essentially made my Denon receiver obsolete. With all that being said, it is still a good little receiver.
Died in less than 3 years, otherwise a good home theatre

Summary: The receiver died in less than 3 years, It used to be that when you bought a name brand that there was some expectation that it might last. However, with most if not all electronics being made overseas with less quality control and sometimes inferior components, 3 years might be the best you can hope for. Know now that a warranty might have helped.
This would be an excellent choice for a budget home theater system.

Summary: Clean sound, very easy hookup. Setup is somewhat complicated, but that can be expected if you want better than "Off the Rack" sound. To get the full benefit of this unit, you'll have to actually read the manual... as a guy I realize this might pose a problem. Once the system is configured for YOUR speakers, YOUR room, and YOUR relative position to the speakers, the experience is mind blowing!.
Summary: Search Google for "AVR-391 freezing" This model is well known on multiple forums/boards/sites for freezing up and Denon is doing nothing to solve the issue. People are reporting that Denon are refusing refunds or exchanges of new units and are telling people to send units away for months at a time to be repaired. I bought this unit for a second room in the house where I have a projector and energy speaker system for movie viewing.
Summary: Have always used Sony receivers. This my first time with a Denon. Not very happy with it and am going back to Sony. The unit freezes up at least once a day and locks up tot he point it has to be unplugged. It also makes a loud popping noise through speakers when its turned on.
Summary: I bought the Denon AVR 391. After installing the unit, we used the system only a few times, as it was on a fourth system in the house. After a short period of time we experienced the SAME problem others did. After running for 7 minutes, the remote stopped working, and the sound cut out. We could not turn it off, even at the unit. We, like the others , had to unplug it to get it to work for another short period of time.
Summary: I am surprised that Denon has not issued a recall on this piece of crap.my unit freezes with no response either on the unit or remote.Have to unplug the unit each time.I have seen similar complaint on other websites. It doesn't help that Denon has the worst customer service.
