  • SOUND SETTINGS AND DISPLAY

My unit is displaying: DTS NEO:6CINEMA. Is this the setting I want? I've seen Dolby D + PLII and Dolby Digital EX, but I don't know how to change it. Can anyone help. I've been debating between this unit and the Yamaha RX-v67BL, any suggestions?

It will all depend on your source. If you are playing through a regular DVD player for example, your audio format can be selected through the Set-up Menu and from there you can select available audio fromats such as Dolby D, DTS 2.0, 5.1 etc. Same goes for Blu-Ray Players and other media players that has this available feature to select audio format. Now if you are playing music via you CD or DVD player, again it will depend on your source and connection. If you take the output from the normal Stereo Left-Right Output Channel, you will get the already decoded/converted audio signal player and this will be fed and amplified from your AVR. If you use the digital outputs such as Optical/Coax and HDMI connections, you will get PCM output or signal which can be detected by your AVR and will be decoded from there and thus you can select what more

It really depends on your taste and what you are listening to. I prefer the PLII setting for TV. Using the surround buttons on the remote will change the sound
