Summary: I have used this receiver for two years. It sounds great, performs well, and has more features than anyone will ever use. But it is so painfully difficult to use that I do not recommend it to anyone who is not willing to spend at least two semesters of hard study at Denon U. Just changing bass, treble, balance, or anything else that should be very basic will have you reach for the manual, and then good luck. Many times I have given up and just call tech support.
Summary: The power that this receiver puts out is amazing. I have this pushing 2 Monitor Audio RS8, and the combination of the 2 is truly amazing! I am not a tech person but really enjoy having very nice stuff. When setting this receiver up everything seemed very confusing even something as simple as changing the radio station. The touch screen remote and owners manual are no help either. I would suggest to Denon that they make their products more user friendly.
Denon Is Not Compatible with Sony Televisions over HDMI

Summary: I own this receiver along with a Denon 2910 DVD player. I also own two Sony televisions, a KDF-E50A10 rear projection, and a KDL52XBR4 LCD. When the Denon products are connected to the Sony televisions via HDMI, you will experience intermittent drop out of video and audio. The combination of Denon and Sony has problems with maintaining the HDCP handshake. Otherwise, this is a great sounding receiver.
Summary: I have had this unit for 9 months now and really like it, but its sort of a love/hate relationship. First the love: the unit has excellent sound with my Klipsch RB-61 speaker system and has a very nice easy to use menu system. Setup was a piece of cake with the Audyssey calibration too, but there is hate: The remote. I still haven't figured out the advanced features and the biggest issue is it isn't compatible with Sony.
Summary: PROS: Lots of features and inputs. Sounds great, though I do not subscribe to the idea that different brands of amplifiers sound different. I think, at the same price level, all amps sound the same, at least to human beings. Any differences are only measurable with laboratory equipment and speakers and your listening environment would utterly mask that. Not to start a flame war. Moving on ... Can run multiple zones with multiple different inputs. Use this regularly.
Summary: The user interface is a design under achievement in human engineering. It is not intuitive to use. Functions like trying to set an individual FM frequency (yes there still are a few of us that utilize FM!) are unduly complicated and ultimately frustrating to figure out (never did). The user manual is pathetic. It must have been originally written in Chinese...then converted to Russian...before English! I don't care how great the specs are..
Pros: Good sound and video quality. High level of adjustability.
