Rock Solid Performance, Modest Cost and Great Value!

Summary: The only reason I gave it a four star rating and not a five star rating is I am not liking the remote as much as my AVR3801. Call it familiarity maybe. I bought this for my sister's soon to be completed home theater. It sounds really nice and clean just like my 3801. It has a few more gadgets and such which is a good thing. I am certain that they will be completely satisfied with this little jewel.
Summary: Great receiver with loads of options. Only thing missing is HDMI switching. HD picture via component cables just as clear as HDMI. Only difference is you have to run a separate cable for digital sound. It comes with 5 optical and 2 coaxial inputs so no worries. Good programmable remote and easy on screen set up. This receiver really brings it and large display is also a bonus. I highly recommend this receiver. Only Bummer does not come with auto set up mic.
Summary: if you want a great sounding receiver and don`t need HDMI this would be an excellant choice. just a few years ago this was considered one of the best ones for the money around-buying on ebay now at these prices makes it a steal!
Summary: Price Paid: $354.00, used, from eBay on 10/03/2006 I'm writing this review because I'm disappointed by the poor reviews from the other Amazon folks that this great receiver does not deserve. Summary: This receiver was released 06/01/2004 with an original retail price of $899, & its professional reviews were glowing. I had researched many different non-HDMI receivers at the time and also liked the Yamahas.
Summary: I just purchased this receiver and found it to be quite wonderful. The Dolby Digital and DTS surround for DVD's is terrific. It's handling of CD's is very, very good too. I found it easy to set up and the auto set up of the speakers is very easy to do. My only complaint is that the remote is a little bit confusing when you first start using it, but once you get used to it's layout and which buttons handle what feature, then it's a breeze to operate.
Summary: I previously owned a Yamaha DSP-1000 sound processor that had more power, sounded as good or better than the Denon, and had a much better remote and manual. I would not recommend it for the above reasons.
