Summary: This receiver is great. It has multiple video output formats (composite, component and HDMI) in case your current TV (or monitor) is not HDMI. This worked out great, since the TV this is hooked up to is an older TV with no HDMI input. This receiver also has 3D passthrough and 4K upscaling for use by the latest TVs.
Summary: Sound quality is excellent. This was shipped quickly, packed well, and arrived as described. It does not seem to be entirely compatible with my Vizio TV. When I go to the satellite receivers program guide when the HDMI communication is turned on, it will sometimes lose the video and I have to power cycle the receiver to get everything working again.
Summary: I bought this receiver over the sony because of the specs. I wanted one with at least a 100 watt rms into 8 ohms. Sony was 95watts into 6 ohms which I thought was misleading. The Sony has wi-fi and bluetooth but has 25% less power according to the specs. The Denon sounds much better than my previous sony with blue-ray and dvds. I have yet to adjust it to sound good with a music cd. For some reason something it is lacking.
Runs Hot, Needs Proper Ventilation. Must Adjust ALL Audio Settings To Optimize Sound.

Summary: This receiver runs a little hot, so make sure you've got plenty of ventilation space. I was putting it through it's paces watching a Judas Priest concert at pretty high volume levels, and it shut down with heat protection at the end of the concert. I had never run into this problem with my previous Denon receivers, so I thought 3-4 inches of clearance in a closed (glass door) shelving unit would be enough.
Summary: Video upgrade is simply amazing! Your Cable HD will look like your Blue Ray. The by-pass that allows me to watch in up graded video without turning on the receiver is an amazing option (especially for my wife) . Let the receiver do it's magic with the sound. Plug in the mic, let the sound measuring device do it's work and Ta dah, you've got the best sound you will ever get out of your speakers. It's that simple.
Summary: This replaced a 16 year old Denon that started to shut-down in the middle of watching video (and didn't have HDMI, either). I've had this receiver for about 3 months. It's been solid. It was missing a few inputs, but I simply decided against using the old components. PROS: Sounds great. Relatively easy to configure. Enough inputs for the average Joe. CONS: No pass-thru video when off.
