Summary: This is an awesome receiver. I have a mix of 4 and 8 ohm speakers. I did a lot of research before I bought the Denon because most manufacturers tell you their product can't handle the low ohms. Not Denon, they said their receiver would handle it, and it did. I tried the auto setup using the mic. It did not do the job for me. Once I set it up using manual set up it sounded the great.
Summary: The system is very difficult to set up and the remote sucks. The sound however is excellent and linked very well with my Panasonic's TV Viera Link so was able to use my Panasonic's remote to control basic Denon's receiver function
Summary: I did a lot of research before settling on the 2309. I listened to several systems and the sound quality was well worth jumping up to this level. It is also the only one in this price range that had 4 HDMI inputs. I would definately suggest getting a side by side comparison before purchasing this system. Doing that made me confident in my purchase of the 2309.
Summary: After weeks of research for the HDTV, I spent another several weeks reviewing receivers. The Samsung was a great choice for a TV and the Denon receiver seems like the best of the bunch - given that there is no clear choice in receivers like I feel there is in HDTVs. It really amounted to picking the one with the best features and the fewest weaknesses, and the Denon came out on top.
Summary: Denon AVR-2309CI 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver Denon AVR-2809CI When I first started to hook up my new 2309 I was expecting to have a difficult time to get it going based on many reviews that I read. To my surprise the hook up was easy. When I got it going I was blown away by the sound. I hooked up my Panasonic BD30 blu ray player and played Dark Knight Returns, the sound and video was top notch.
Summary: Bought this receiver at J&R. [...] Replaced Onkyo 703 that didn't have 1080p HDMI pass-through and ran very hot (wanted to take advantage of Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio via HDMI, plus 4 HDMI inputs). The Audyssey speaker calibration system is outstanding. If done correctly, produces exceptionally clean, balanced sound. Very good power and runs relatively cool.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Clean Sound, Clean Video, Good Power, Great Speaker Calibration
Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Poor Manual, Poor Remote
Summary: Hi, I had this receiver (Denon AVR-2309CI) for less than a week and a half before I returned it to 6th AVE. The sound is great and the video passed through perfectly fine as well. There was a problem though. It took a week researching on what could be the problem and it looks like others are having this problem as well. If you have a Sony flat panel LCD that starts with the letters KDL (ex. KDL-52XBR4, KDL-Z4100, KDL-W3000) then you will have picture and sound dropouts.
Summary: After weeks of researching which receiver will work best with My Samsung LNA750 and PS3 I went with the Denon AVR2309ci. I couldn't be more happy with my first receiver. Blu-Ray and video games sounds great. I Have the Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 speakers hooked to it and it shakes my living room up. I Have my HD cable TV going in HDMI and that too sounds great while watching TV. I also pulled out the old GameCube went in S-video and up-converted it to 1080p via HDMI cable.
